144 hz Monitor vs 60 hz Monitor

Featured Replies

Good evening,

i am a little bit confused.
I got a monitor which has the following specs:

1080p
144 hz (G-Sync!)
24 Zoll

I've observed something strange when playing around with the G-Sync function and changing the Hz of my monitor.

G-Sync is turned on and should work properly.

Now i rotated the Hz of my monitor between the two values 60 and 144.

Despite of G-Sync is on and should regulate the Hz automatically there is a significant difference regarding how fluent MSFS is.
The frames are same regardless of whether 60 Hz is set or 144 in the monitor settings but the image is much more fluent when 144 Hz is set. (Frames are around 40 in the test scenario)
Also blind-tested that!

How is this possible? G-Sync should adapt the Hz according to the frames in the sim, shouldnt it? How can there be a difference regarding how fluent the sim is?

Hope somebody can help here!

Thanks in advance.

Greetings,

Thies

Hello,

Same for me : I get more fps with fs 2020 if I use the 120hz mode, less fps if I use the 60Hz mode (monitor setting)

V-SYNC should be off in MSFS options but ON in Nvidia control panel.  I have a 144Hz 1440p G-Sync monitor and have smooth flight.

G-SYNC 101

G-Sync 101 - Why V-SYNC on?

Hey there,

with 144hz set in the monitor settings, i have a smooth flight as well.
As soon as i set it to 60hz, tearing starts. Not changing anything in MSFS or in Nvidia settings furthermore.

It feels a little bit like G-Sync is only active when refresh rate is set to 144.

V-Sync is turned off in MSFS options.

Thanks!

Btw.: Which monitor do you have?
