September 27, 20205 yr With my week long reinstall complete, decided to continue the flight I was doing before Patch 2 broke my game - the default 747-800 from KIDA to KEWR. As expected, the autopilot is still switched off when you load a flight and the plan is no longer present in the FMC (maybe Patch 3 will attend to that). However once I got everything set back up and hit LNAV, the ship would not settle into a straight line to follow the vector. Constantly banking to one side then the other instead of tracking straight. It got so irritating, in the end I switched to heading hold to protect my temper and sanity - which works fine. Can't recollect experiencing this prior to the 1.8.30 patch. Has anyone else experienced this and is there any workaround (other than abandoning LNAV)? If so, has it been reported to Zendesk?
September 27, 20205 yr I've been having fun with the 747. I have wildly fluctuating vertical speed behaviour in VS mode but I've not been getting the hunting behaviour you describe. I've seen it before in other sims though. I've even seen the PMDG 747 behave like this but I don't know what causes it. Agreed it is very annoying.I avoid VS mode in the Boeings - FLC works well enough for me.You could fill out a Zendesk report, but it doesn't seem to be universal which would make it difficult to locate the problem. September 27, 20205 yr The autopilot being off when you load a flight, don't expect that to get fixed. That crossed over from FSX, so if it's been there almost 15 years, I have my doubts it'll be rectified.
September 27, 20205 yr Author I had a bit of an issue with ALT too, doesn't resume where you left it and if you just hit ALT (Hold) where you are yes I've actually got the pitch up and down. Dial in a slightly lower or higher setting and use VS to adjust, it seems to settle down.
September 27, 20205 yr Author Another "niggle", if you try and change the speed indicator back from Mach to Knots, the digital display stays on Mach. Definitely feel a note to Zendesk coming on.
September 28, 20205 yr Author And APP mode seems to be broken - I have previously done an AP ILS landing but it messed up at KEWR last night. Almost perfect approach (by my standards), hit the STAR and Transition to RW04R spot on. Two purple dots on the PFD for Loc and GS, hit the APP button and - whoosh, immediate 2000FPM climb as the AP went back into ALT and LNAV mode (even though my approach altitude was set at around 2300 feet). Couldn't disconnect and hand fly as Newark covered in a pea soup of cloud and fog with zero visibility even at 2000 feet. Think this game has a long way to go...
