Mapping TBM 930 Throttle to Saitek TQ?

Featured Replies

I would like to see how simmers are mapping the unusual H pattern movement of the TBM 930 throttle lever to the Saitek Throttle Quadrant levers. I like to run my controllers through FSUIPC when possible, but haven't figured out yet how to best do this with the TBM 930 throttle. Thanks for any ideas.

It just works out of the box on the throttle axis for me. Probably could look into it further to map the low to high idle section but sitting in high idle introduces some high ITT whilst stationary.ย

Do I understand correctly that you are not using the Low and High idle 'side' of the throttle H pattern with your TQ, and so to start the engine you just use the mouse to first position the throttle in cutoff, etc.

It does use them, for initial start up. Then afterwards it works just on the throttle axis from 0 to 100 for throttle input. To go back into the high idle to low idle area i use a mouse.

Just to clarify, which TQ lever moves the throttle back and forth between Hi and Low idle, and to Cutoff when you shut down? Or do you have to use the mouse for this?

Thx,

Al

I suspect the problem you'll run into is that the throttle is quasi-mapped to the throttle axis even when it's over on the low/high idle side. If you move the controller's throttle while it's at cutoff, or low/high idle over there, it will instantly snap over to the regular flight (left) side, but of course will not snap back no matter how you move the throttle controller after that.ย

@ark I own Saitek x52(not the pro) and after a few trial and error, I figure out a nice way of mapping it for the inverted ยต pattern which you might want to try out.

Apparently the Throttle(function) is mapped for either the high power and Idle power sections of the plane. What makes the switch between the two is the propeller pitch. In this case I use the "slider x" mapped to the PROPELLER AXIS, Then I mapped two separate buttons INCREASE THROTTLE=button 7; DECREASE THROTTLE=button 30 which I use to go up and down the Idle power section (Apparently goes by steps).

For Reverse Thrust, I mapped button 32 to use as HOLD THROTTLE REVERSE THRUST which I keep pressing while I increase THROTTLE AXIS(Joystick L-axis Z). (I use my throttle quadrant with my right hand).

So, for the starting procedure I go from Cut-Off to Low Idle to High Idle using button 7, then PROPELLER AXIS(slider x) to transition to high power and use my THROTTLE AXIS(Joystick L-axis Z) from there.

For shut-off procedures I go from idle THROTTLE AXIS(Joystick L-axis Z) to high Idle using the slider x and then button 30 to go down all the way to Cut-Off.

Hope this was clear enough ๐Ÿ˜€
