[SOLVED] P3D V5 G2D.DLL CTD WITH WMR ONLY

Featured Replies

Anyone else having this G2D.DLL error in their windows eventviewer after using WMR, with P3D V5 latest build since round about the 9. Oct. 2020 in combination with WMR and a addon like in my case only with Aerosoft A330 or QW 787? With FSLabs I don´t have these issues.

Prior the 9. Oct. I didn´t have a single CTD at all. See my System specs for my setup and addons I am using.

If anyone else is having this issue, which first starts with the "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG" message and than leads to a G2D.DLL error in the windows eventviewer, please chime at the LM forum and maybe also here (for me ;-)):

P3D Thread 1 or  P3D thread 2

If I use the QW 787 or Aerosoft A330, with WMR started AFTER I loaded the P3D flight and scenery, no issues at al. But starting WMR prior starting P3D.EXE does lead to a CTD after the scenery loaded fully and then within the mext 30 to 45 seconds.

Any help would be appreciated.

The following I tried already:

  • Reverting to a backup image prior to the 8.Oct ,from wich I am 100% sure I never had a single CTD at all did not help anything!
  • Reverting to prior Nvidia drivers with and without using DDU, Nvidia experience and so far and so on, no luck
  • Uninstalling and installing P3D completely or per module (Client, Scenery, Content seperately or at once), no luck (I did not delete any further files as I am NOT 100% sure this is an issue on my side. Maybe a windows update did cause problems ot LM P3D DX12 related "code"
  • Uninstalling QW 787 / Aerosoft A330 and installing again, no luck
  • Deleting P3D.CFG and build new once, no luck
  • Uninstalling WMR, Steam VR and STEAM Client completely and installing them again, no luck
  • Turning of Windows  defender / Windows Firewalls, no luck
  • Clearing shaders, Facilities, and so far and so on, no luck
  • Reinstalling Windows 10 2004, no luck (NOT a clean install but I used Windows Creation Tool and KEPT my APPS and documents)

The only thing that worked for me now and without HOURS o setting up a full clean rig is:

  • Starting P3D with any plane, even QW 787 or Aerosofts A330, Start the "flight" and afterwards start WMR does work.
  • Or start WMR, P3D and a flight WITHOUT QW 787 or Aerosoft A330 but WITH FSLabs A320X/A321X does work also without CTD.

P3DV5 G2D.DLL WITH WMR Error Eventviewer

Regards Marcus

UPDATE: I uninstalled and installed my Chipset driver (ASUS Z490/Intel Chipset) and after two tests I had no CTD so far.

The only device I turned off before was my HMD. Just closed the WMR App before uninstalling and installing the Intel Chipset driver again. In my case a "Intel_Chipset_Software_Utility_V10.1.18263.8193_WIN10_64-bit".

Maybe some others can solve their G2D.DLL Error too.

NOTE: I did just 2 tests with cases where prior my P3D V5 would CTD as mentioned in my previous posts. I will do some further testing and report back afterwards.

Hi Marcus

You are mentioning WMR, what is that. I have the same problem with CTD in A330 and QW787, so will try your suggestion above

Kind Regards

Henrik
