win10 permission

Thanks for all of your replies,my comp is new w/win10.new install fsx.think i have full control and modify ok.I amtrying to install "mud and dirt on your wheels" I have also installed " holgermesh" no idea if this is working "

I logged on as the admin. same result.

Need permission to add files to this comp. thank all of you, Rudder.

Hi rudder,

Are you logging in with the name of the initial user you set up when Windows was installing? If not try logging into Windows with that initial name and password (or PIN), then try installing the program.

Good point. I don't know what version of Windows the OP came from. In the old days, as we remember, the initial account created on a new computer was a user account. You had to create an admin account to have full access. W10 automatically creates an admin account. Though there is a limited higher account. Perhaps the OP created another admin account out of habit, and this is the problem.

Another problem with permissions can come from attempting to install (or copy files or folders) from a shared folder on a network node or NAS for example. Try first to copy the installer program to the desktop. Then from the desktop run the installer.
