Milviz B737-200 Part II - Few Liveries etc.

Featured Replies

Whenever I come back, to a "nice" plane/SIM, like this one here, after several months of break, I always feel obliged to look up what new liveries, the Repainters have created in the interim. This is because, it's always in the back of mind that, even though, I might have spent just a few hours flying it, the Repainters have probably spent days (or weeks) on a single paint, and, of course, the DEVs must have spent years...while, I consider myself, part of the majority of "pure" simmers, in the SIM, (i.e. neither involved in painting nor in DEV, but just a freelancer, taking advantage of whatever comes my way...🙂...)....Anyway, for either of the aforesaid (two) groups, the commitment is (likely) not the primary engagement of life (i.e. it's a set-aside time commitment for the sake of interest in the hobby)...so, it deserves respect...

Sometimes, the repaint-search ends up being like bit of a "treasure-hunt"...requiring visits to multiple websites, both well-known and less-obvious (such as e.g. the Painter's own depositories). However, for this one, I was lucky to find plenty to choose from, right here, in the local Avsim Library. So, it didn't take long to install the repaints (3-4 mins each). I picked up about 20 new ones, that should motivate me to fly this plane more often, which, of course, this SIM deserves. So, below, please find 10 (selected) colors for this Classic Bird, that looked "interesting" to my eyes, reflecting probably a bit of bias, in the selection process, on my part,...🙂....Still, hope you enjoy this collection of images. And, apart from the liveries, I've also included a screenshot of the Milviz's (intuitive) Configurator interface, which easily allows the user to set up a livery with or without Gravel kit, one of the two Autopilot Models (Sperry SP-77 or SP-177), and with or without the (Universal Avionics System) FMS. Also, just for comparison (with SP-77 of my previous post), I've also shown, below, a close-up shot of the SP-177 Autopilot Glare Shield (with extra buttons such as for [A/T] and [LNAV] etc.). It's worth noting that the fundamental layout of the Honeywell (formerly Sperry) MCP is virtually unchanged from the SP177 of the 737-200ADVs, all the way to the 737-NGs...!

Finally, below, are a bit of notes, on a few of the liveries, shown, in case you're interested.

Thanks for viewing...!!

Livery Notes:

  1. US Airways’ Short-lived MetroJet - [On June 1, 1998, MetroJet took flight using the Boeing 737-200. MetroJet was painted (see below) uniquely, with a red fuselage, gray belly and a tail matching their parent company’s, US Airways. However, MetroJet survived for just three brief years.]
  2. Adam Air - [This was a privately owned airline based in West Jakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia (ceased operations in 2008).]
  3. Piedmont - [The Potomac Pacemaker (see imprint), Reg. N775N, was registered N231US after the merger with USAir in 1989. It was transferred to Metrojet in November 1999, and stayed with the US Airways subsidiary until the subsidiary's closure in September 2001. Also see Metrojet repaint and Metrojet note above.]
  4. Pan Am "Clipper Morning Glory" - [This B737-200 was part of the Pan Am's Clipper Fleet and represented Pan Am's one of the last liveries, with Reg. N64AF.]
  5. British Airways (G-BGDL) - [As contrasted with British Airways' (better-known) Landor color schemes, this is the Benyhone Pattern (Mountain of the Birds), based on a Scottish Tartan design Tail.]

Fantastic Liveries

Patrick. Agree, these liveries are fascinating...the simple Blue of PAN AM, the Regional touch of "PIEDMONT"...and of course, the Baby Boeing in BA color....etc...

BTW, for Canadian North, the logo, here, shows the Polar Bear and the mid-night Sun. Canadian North merged with First Air, in 2019, and I read that the Polar Bear will go off the logo of the merged company....so this is the chance to see it...🙂...

Thanks...!!
