Once I have confirmation of how Tuskin38's father made the switch, I'll be more confident in what to do. Pretty crazy that there's so much uncertainty, and that's mostly been down to the mess made by the whole 'within the sim upgrade' fiasco. Without that (and if the save files were saved locally rather than on remote servers), I'd have just backed those up, deleted the Game Pass install and re-instated the save files after installing the full sim. Ok so he only went from the gamepass to the standard edition of the game. I don’t know what will happen to you if you go from gamepass to a higher edition. It might be safer to usub, uninstall then reinstall. Edited October 29, 20205 yr by Tuskin38
October 29, 20205 yr This is a grey area and I know people who've had issues with this. I have Game Pass and upgraded it. But your marketplace purchases should tie into your Xbox account, not the version of FS you have. I have since purchased the standard edition and it looks as if it did go ahead and update my digital ownership, but have not tried to unsub gamepass yet. I do plan on keeping gamepass for the immediate future, and so I can't test out the reality of this yet. If I do cancel gamepass in the future and find all my addons including my upgrade are gone, I will be screaming some holy hell. Just as I expect all my purchases to roll over to my xbox system x.

Although it turns out the £1 for a month deal I thought I could use to extend Game Pass is actually an upgrade to Ultimate (more ambiguous MS wording at work!), I can get one more month for £3.99 because my initial billing date is 2 days before the Subscription price increase comes into effect. So I decided to take that extra month to try to get through some of the other games I have on Game Pass. I did buy Forza Horizon 4 at a substantial discount at the same time I got MSFS, so I may use that to risk seeing how things work when installing something I already have on Game Pass. not exactly the same as it isn't an upgrade, but it might be an indicator. Glenn's info pretty much seems to sum things up though. 3 hours ago, Tuskin38 said: Ok so he only went from the gamepass to the standard edition of the game. Oh well, things are still up in the air for me then (excuse the pun!). I would've assumed that it would be irrelevant which version you switch to, but assuming things with MSFS is risky! Somebody else must have taken this route, I can't be the only one!😕 OS: Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHzRAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU: MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB] SSD: Corsair Force MP510 (for OS); 2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)HDD: Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)
October 30, 20205 yr So in the end I bought the Deluxe version not in the marketplace because that meant I had to keep the Game Pass, but in the MS Store. First I ran the new patch update and then I bought the upgrade in the MS Store. Had no problems with the patch update or the upgrade to the Deluxe version and the updates were quick - for the upgrade to the Deluxe version there was a small file downloaded from the MS Store and then I had to go into the content manager to download the additional planes and handcrafted airports. Was about 6 Gigs. Also seems to still have all the third-party addons but I have not had the chance to check them all to see if it is so. Those that I bought in the marketplace still indicate that I owe all of them. Will check those bought outside of the marketplace later. My flight logbook is also still in tact with all my flights taken to date. Will now cancel my Game Pass as I only got it to try out MSFS.

The only different between what you have done and I'm planning on doing is that I have bought Premium Deluxe and I got my code from Amazon rather than in the MS Store. Seems unlikely my experience should be different from yours, so I look forward to your update...🤞👍 OS: Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHzRAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU: MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB] SSD: Corsair Force MP510 (for OS); 2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)HDD: Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)
