October 28, 20205 yr Day before yesterday, I ran MSFS and shut it down. I had no problems and did a normal shutdown. Yesterday I fired up MSFS and found I had no response from my yoke....No axes movement, no button response. I went to controls setting...my Honeycomb yoke is missing. instead I now see a controller called 'Touch Pointer'. I have no clue what this is, I don't have a touch screen. my computer is a desktop. All my other controllers show up properly labeled and responds fine, The 'new' touch pointer, has no axes to set and the default setting has no assignments. I am unable to bind any key or button to 'touch pointer'; I mean that if I attempt to bind a key when I get the dropdown window to select an input, there are no 'inputs', to select. Further investigation, and I find that the Honeycomb yoke shows up in Windows10 Devices and printers, and allows normal calibration. I must admit that in my years of simming I have never seen this problem. Any help or advise appreciated. I have tried moving the controller to another USB port. I have disconnected the controller, re booted the computer and MSFS ('Touch Pointer') still shows up (with honeycomb disconnected). I believe I have to remove the 'Touch Pointer', which I think is renamed from 'Alpha flight control' but have no clue how to do so as it seems once a controller is 'found' in MSFS, there is no option to delete it. It seems I have a corrupted controller file but no idea what or where to find it. PS I am fairly certain that a re install is not the answer, because when I got a new computer a few days after MSFS was released, I did a fresh install of MSFS and was surprised to find that all my settings including my controller settings were the same as on my 'old' computer. This indicates that some configuration files are cloud based and tied to my MSFS account. I am using windows 10 Pro ver 2004 OS build 19041.572 experience pack 120.2212.31.0 Robin
October 28, 20205 yr It might be a tablet. Make sure its not going to sleep. I have a wacom tablet and it shows up as touch pointer
October 28, 20205 yr I would check the USB cable, especially where it connects with the yoke. Did you check that Windows is even seeing the Alpha? My guess is it is not. Ryzen 7 5800 x3D, Asus Tuf Gaming X570 Plus, Geforce GTX 4080 F.E., 32GB Corsair PC-3600, 1TB Samsung Evo 970 nVME SSD, 1TB Samsung Evo 870 SSD, 500GB Samsung Evo 870 SSD
October 28, 20205 yr Also check the "telephone" plugs on the wire on the actual yoke shaft. Mine had come loose a while back and the yoke became unresponsive too. Good luck.

Good luck. The telephone plug doesn't affect yoke response, nor response to the buttons on the yoke body. The only things that should be disabled by a loose plug are the buttons on the yoke.
October 28, 20205 yr Author Hi , Thanks for trying to help. The situation is resolved; though I cant say what caused it or even what fixed it. I shut down the computer, disconnected all USB devices except mouse. Re started the system, ran MSFS, checked controller setting and did not see any thing listed except mouse and keyboard....shut down MSFS, ...shutdown windows....re connected all my USB devices and restarted the computer. I then ran MSFS... checked controllers setting and Alpha Flight control is there and touch pointer is no longer there. Set up a flight and all is back to normal... This is almost as puzzling as those folks switching to HDMI cables and now seeing rain drops when they couldn't before. PS I have always had HDMI cables and I am not seeing any rain on windshield when using live weather. (Pre sets work fine) I have also noticed over the past few days that sometimes the live time of the sim is off by minutes and sometimes up to an hour. Sometimes a MSFS re start corrects this, sometimes not. Not a show stopper but curious. Robin
