After the update, things looked good. The next day I was fine tuning the controls and then left the pc. When I got back, the sim had crashed. First, Microsoft gave me an error code that I no longer owned the game. After verifying in the store that I still owned the game and I could press the button "play", I found that the MS icon on the desktop fails to start the sim. I "repaired" it, but still nothing happens.

I am hesitant to do a reinstall. Any ideas.

yah  u can google the commad and see what it does,,, u may have to add exe. to the end of it  not sure,

If there are issues with your MS credentials you may need to log out of ALL microsoft/xbox apps on your system and then log back into the windows store and hit play from there. This includes logging out of the Xbox assistant or Xbox toolbar which you may not even realised was stealth installed with the game.

i've gotten as far as "validating license", after asking me to reinstall, but now it's stuck on it.

I miss the days when you could play games off line.

has happened to me before. tried everything including repair/wsreset ended up de-and reinstalling. make sure you create a backup of communist folder before that. even minor thing like wrong system time could be the culprit:

"If you are in the UK, check the time on your PC. This happened to me this morning as the clocks went back, MSFS would not fire up, happened to glance at the time on my PC and it hadn’t changed from BST. Synced the time and then it worked. "

yes, it's a bummer. MS pretty much forced me to reinstall the sim. wow! it's giving 12 hour reinstalls a whole new meaning .
