November 13, 200619 yr Which forum is appropriate for questions about FSX's TrafficDataBaseBuilder.exe? "FSX", "TTools for MSFS", "Scenery Design"?If this is an appropriate forum, here is a question:Why doesn't the following compile a bgl for me?trafficdatabasebuilder /Output=NW_Test.bgl /Airports=nw_airports.dat /AircraftTypes=CustomAircraftTypes.csv /Schedules=nw_schedules.dat /AutoSchedule=no /StatsDir=G:TEMP2What am I doing wrong? November 13, 200619 yr Bump! :) I know some of you guys are AI-er's. Incidentally, I did figure out what I did wrong in the above example. But then, my traffic did not appear in the sim; and today, I conjectured that this was because of the apparent fact that FS2004 and FSX AI cannot co-exist at the same airport at the same time. You see, I'm using WoAI (an FS2004 port), and yet I tried to place FSX-compiled AI at the same airport. No wonder the FSX AI didn't show. Does this seem likely?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
November 13, 200619 yr Author Hi,I have used WOAI aircraft (installed with the WOAI FSX installer) and the FSX traffic data base builder builder OK. However, I did not use any flight plans I just let the program work out a schedule and generate the BGL which I transferred to SceneryWorldSecnery as per FS9. I tried some FS9 installed WOAI aircraft but they didn't work from their own folder (transferred to the FSX Airplanes folder. When I added the textures to an FSX folder of the same aircraft (CRJ700) and updated the FSX aircraft config file then everything worked well. I couldn't see any differences between the FS9 and FSX config files so I haven't figured out why I got this result.I have read (in this forum) that there is a twitch with using a flight plan BGL compiled for FS9 and those compiled for FSX together. An observation of interest is that the Traffic Data base Builder takes much longer to generate a BGL than the FS9 version I even cut out most of the worlds airports except airfields in the USA and it still takes what seems an eternity to generate the output BGL.I hope some other Traffic SDK users will share their experiences. November 13, 200619 yr The FSX traffic .bgl's must be slightly different than the FS9 traffic .bgl's. They sure don't like to work together anyway.I am making some Northwest Airlines traffic bgl's for FSX.Tonight I am going to try to disable all of the WoAI traffic at KMSP,and KDEN, and then see if I can't get a few FSX Northwest Airlines traffic bgl planes to show in those places.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
November 14, 200619 yr Hi,Reggie Fields has seen this too - FSX will not load both FSX and FS2004 traffic files together. One or the other.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
November 14, 200619 yr AFAIK, FSX's TrafficBuilder is still under construction and it shouldn't be too long. Kind regards Jaap
November 14, 200619 yr I'm not on my machine that has FSX but I think you need to add the /countries file. It may or may not matter; the documentation says it is optional. On the other hand, when I tried to create an /autoschedule BGL it wouldn't generate a normal file without it. It may be necessary to add a number designation for the Gaza Strip. I got an error and just made up something to put in there.
November 14, 200619 yr >I'm not on my machine that has FSX but I think you need to>add the /countries file. It may or may not matter; Yes that was the problem exactly. I fixed that and got it working. And indeed, you cannot have FSX and FS2004 AI at the same place at the same time.It seems the FS2004 AI will override the FSX AI. This may be by design.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
November 14, 200619 yr >AFAIK, FSX's TrafficBuilder is still under construction and>it shouldn't be too long. >>Kind regards >>Jaap I got it working Jaap, so if it's still under construction, it works at least.I was really happy when I got a NWA 757-300 to show up at KMSP.Then I let TDBB do an autoschedule of routes...and....ooh. It made waay too many routes. NW only has 16 757-300's, and it had them doing 100's of routes....!!!I still need to figure out how to have the autoscheduler not make so many flights.Or I could manually do schedules, but that's time consuming.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
November 14, 200619 yr Author Using TDBB to generate a random flight BGL has its limitations.TDBB will look at the airports file and schedule flights for the list of aircraft provided to all parking availability in all the airports it has in its airports file. If you have a builder stats file go in there and look at the ACInstanceCounts.txt file and it gives the number of flights scheduled for each aircraft in the aircraft list. For each parking size and type the more aircraft listed in your aircraft file the less flights each will do. There is no way to control the number of flights allocated to each aircraft except by deleting Airports from the airports file.
