November 17, 200619 yr I'm not sure how to explain this or get it over, I will try.Is FSX using a adaptive learning program as in the more you run it the better it gets in running? It seems like my FPS are picking up some the more I ran the program almost as if FSX is learning what it needs to have ready for better overall performance. Im no computer guy so I will just leave it out there in case somebody that is may have noticed it also and can explain it much better then I.
November 17, 200619 yr Funny you should say that. yesterday I had the same feeling flying over Athens with traffic both in the air, on the roads and at sea. And the game was surprisingly smooth for an area that dense :-)Eagle
November 17, 200619 yr Then it's placebo, cause it was cloudy and foggy. Placebo is good enough for me though ;-).Eagle
November 17, 200619 yr I am suffering from Placebo too. The doctor ordered me a few days rest with absolutely no flight simming. What you noticed is my experience too. The last week I did not change anything to my settings, yet I get now a better performance. I cannot explain it however.Jozef K. http://homepages.onsnet.nu/~jkusters/signature.jpg
November 17, 200619 yr My mobile is learning my habits, so is the Mac OS X. I think this is beginning to become normal for some software. Let's hope this is the case for FSX. In some other areas this sim is stone age; the map is still the old gamestopping-mini-hard-to-move-around-in-bad-excuse-for-a-map-thing, and the numbers in fuel and load dialogs still has strange select and tab behaviour. As if they forgot to fix both in fs9 and fsx ...Eagle

November 17, 200619 yr I recommand you stop playing FSX for a little while before your hallucination takes control of you, and hallucination usually leads to schizophrenia. :-hang
November 17, 200619 yr My guess is that some of the files you needed to run it the day before were written to your hard disk as VM, then when you ran it the following day, they were retrieved to RAM quicker, having already been written. That's just a guess, but it seems more likely as an explanation than your computer and FSX becoming self-aware! November 17, 200619 yr Thank you - I didn't get it before :)We uncultured Americans sometimes need some prodding. At least I do!Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
November 17, 200619 yr "That's just a guess, but it seems more likely as an explanation than your computer and FSX becoming self-aware!"Oh no that also must mean my FPS counter is becomming self away. :) There is something going on. I know its not that. I was just wondering if a program could improve its self with learning how the users runs it.I think we are a few years away from Skynet:-lol
November 17, 200619 yr You are exactly right. It monitors your frame-rate (happiness meter) and dynamically changes your resolution down a notch if you continually make changes to the scenery complexity levels. It moved mine from 1600x1200 to 1280x1024. I was shocked. I went in the other day and my frame rates were 30% higher. It wasnt for a few days before I noticed that it had changed my resolution. Geez those guys at ACES. Now I know what they meant by Easter Egg.Bob
November 17, 200619 yr I'm not kidding! I have been working with Dreamweaver all day. First time I select a path to a stylesheet I get no help. Later I get help to chose the path, based on earlier choices and even filenames that matches the target in some way. And, my mobile suggest the next word in message composer based on earlier choices. Why shouldn't the sim have something like this? It's not magic, it's programming. Dreamweaver stores the info in textfiles.Btw, what are those folders in my Scenery folder named 0000 0001 0002 etc.? Did I put them there? Some installer? Santa?Eagle
