November 17, 200619 yr Regarding Antialsiasing and Anomorphic settings, FSX doesn't seem to react to the settings on the nvidea driver settings. Is there anything within the FSX cfg file that would force the video card to do those functions instead of the fsim?Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

November 17, 200619 yr Mine doesn't - if its off in FSX then it stays off. If it's on in FSX, then it seems a bit arbitrary as to where the effect is coming from. There's defintely some odd interaction going on. I even found myself in the case of using a combination of the AA setting in FSX plus driver setting to get the right appearance (yes I am confused).X800 GTO
November 17, 200619 yr I've never used the settings in the sim, always the ones in the driver config and mine works like a champ. Sounds like you have the driver settings in windows set for application controlled and not hard set for the level of AA and AF that you want. If not then your machine is having driver issues. You might want to uninstall your old drivers and install the latest ones if you're still having problems.
November 17, 200619 yr AFAIK it is not possible for the FSX configuration menu to override the driver-level settings if they are set to anything other than `application controlled`. FSX.exe is `downstream` of the Nvidia menu options which are at a system level and can only set its own preferences if `allowed` to do so. It's fundamental OS logic. Most likely your problem is one of the things I've outlined in the Hardware forum, which is where I suggest we should continue this topic.Allcott
November 17, 200619 yr Dont agree, the sim is overriding some driver protocals, try setting 4xAA and higher check all transparency and gama AA as well as 16xAF and take a look at the runway and txiway markings from just a mile or so away, tisn't working.Tried this with my 7900GT as well as my old 6800g with same result. There have been some complaints at some variose nvidia a really excited user sites as well. There does seem to be some overriding or ignoring going on here and rivatuner or the normal control panel is not effective.
November 17, 200619 yr I have the same issue. I have an ATI 1950XTX. I find that setting FSX filtering to NONE always gives me NONE, even though the driver has been configured to NOT use the application preference.
November 17, 200619 yr >I have the same issue. I have an ATI 1950XTX. I find that>setting FSX filtering to NONE always gives me NONE, even>though the driver has been configured to NOT use the>application preference.>Thats the one setting that actually will override the driver settings as it effectively takes a `neat`, unfiltered feed direct from the card. Although it appears in the filtering menu it really is a switch that turns all filtering off, not a selection menu choice.I cannnot think of any reason why anyone would want to do that, outside of bug-chasing!Allcott

November 18, 200619 yr when you checked AA in FS9, AND you where using "override" settings in your driver CP, for what ever AA you would use you get SSAA, even if that is not what you chose, It was one of the back door methods one could use to AA transparent textures etc.In FSX, there are some real problems, things NOT getting filtered even when you have every setting checked in game or at Driver level, and As pointed out clearly there are override issues...Just a heads up since we are on the subject, the new 8800NV cards are back to angle independant ansio that has been missing since the TI4600 days.I hate to bring up the word patch but with the bad land class texturing I hope something is done to give total control to the driver if one wants, in game settings are rarely even handed to all cards.however I do like FSX, just am suprised by some things that got thru testing.
