November 20, 200619 yr >Why would you want the bogus airlines showing up???>>Jim>You probably wouldn't. My point was, earlier we (meaning several of us FS people, such as Reggie Fields) were trying to get AI packages like World of AI, PAI, MyTraffic, and so forth, to appear *alongside* FSX default AI.It is not possible to have FS9-coded AI alongside FSX-coded AI at the same airport. I have gotten around that little problem now.I have simply used the SDK to make FSX-coded AI using existing AI aircraft, like EvolveAI, and AIAardvark. Works like a charm, both default AI and your add-on AI can appear...if you program your AI for FSX and not FS9.That's a picture of KMSP (Minn-St. PAul Intl).RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
November 20, 200619 yr There are lots of repaints already out there to replace the default ai planes with real airlines, and even the call signs are correct if you do it right. Just add the new texture directory to the aircraft directory, and edit the aircraft.cfg file section for each of the default airplanes to point to your new texture directories and make sure to update the airline and atc_id records with the correct data. Make sure to keep the title= records with the same names as the default textures (making sure those title= names are unique with no duplicate titles in any of your aircaft.cfg files), as FS uses the title field to determine which planes to use in the default AI file. I never see any "World Travel" or "Orbit" airlines anymore when I have traffic on.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
November 20, 200619 yr What's the impact of the AI customized models on performance? They did a very good job to have good frames even with dense AI traffic in FS9.Are those models as FPS-friendly in FSX?
November 20, 200619 yr >How did you get the default AI to show up again?>>Jim>For reference: see my response to the other posters question, above.Basically I used the FSX SDK to put in new AI. You see Jim, it appears that all of the existing AI packages out there right now (PAI, MyTraffic, etc.) were made with the FS9 SDK. That's why we can't see any FSX AI when we use FS9 AI packages.I'm sure, as time progresses, we will start seeing FSX AI packages that were done WITH the FSX SDK as opposed to the FS9 SDK.FS9 SDK can still be used to make AI for FSX, but doing so will "chase away" all of your FSX AI planes. You should see KDTW (Detroit Intl), (isn't that sort of near you?) with all of these Northwest Airlines jets in it. It looks neat. That pic is actually KMSP, one of their other big hubs.I've actually coded about 80% of NWA's schedules into FSX, but I'm not sure if I am going to upload this, because it's not 100% accurate, and I am having some parking issues.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
November 20, 200619 yr >What's the impact of the AI customized models on>performance?>They did a very good job to have good frames even with dense>AI traffic in FS9.>Are those models as FPS-friendly in FSX?Those are the very same models you saw with FS9--EvolveAI, AI Aardvark, FSP, etc. only ported to FSX using FSX SDK to compile the .bgl's.Really you see the same effect as with FS9--they are more FPS-friendly than the default AI, but the main reason I see for that is because with my Northwest Airlines AI there is simply less AI. Sure the EvolveAI planes have less polygons, and that helps, but I have seen the primary FPS-killer to be the sheer numbers of AI.Set your FSX AI sliders at 20% and use the Traffic Explorer (comes with the SDK) to see just how many AI flights are going on. It's an amazingly large number for such a low slider setting. And it hurts fps.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
November 20, 200619 yr Author I fly with 100% Ultimate Traffic AI and get decent (not great) FPS on the ground at the most dense airports! Pretty much the same that I got with FS9! That is also with dense (Though tweaked) Autogen. I also fly with non FSX aircraft. I use the Overland models for airliners. FSX does handle all these aircraft, just like FS9, it also has the same issues as FS9! Aircraft landing on top of each other forcing go arounds! Fortuneately there is now a version of AISMOOTH in the lib that works with FSX. Aircraft still ocaisionally skips in on the ground, just like FS9. It still won't allow position and hold after an aircraft lands until it leaves the runway, and it also does not allow aircraft to cross active runways causing aircraft to get stuck and disappear if not cleared after 5 min. I'm sure this can be solved (I hope) in the AFCAD just like in FS9. Basically as promised by MS/Aces not much if anything changed in the AI department in FSX. Atleast no existing functionality was taken away! (That I can tell) One thing I have noticed, when using FS9 aircraft Player or AI the landing lights don't illuminate the ground. They do though on the aircraft itself!! Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
