Wierd contrail behavior

Featured Replies

Hi all-

Just completed KSTS > KSUN.

When I landed, i still had contrails following me around!

The behavior is that the contrails stay put on my screen and from spot view when panning, the aircraft rotates around them.

Never seen this one before. BTW, not running and immersion software and have downloaded and installed the new lights upgrade.

See this with any other planes?

Good question. I only fly the Lear.

I should be able to do a quick run with the stock P3D jet on the same route and find out.

Just completed the same route with the F35-A.

Contrails at FL300, none on the ground.

So, looks to be Lear related? I can't think of anything I've done that would alter that contrail effect.

But then again, you never know..

Very strange.  What sim?

No one else has reported this -- yet. Does this happen repeatedly? If so, try landing with ALL a/c lights off to see if that makes a difference for some reason because of the new light package.  And if you are using any 3rd party addons -- wx program, airport scenery upgrade (Orbx), graphical enhancements, Chaseplane, etc, I would try turning them all off  Another experiment would be to land at a different, and default, airport. Also suggest you don't start with any saved flights. All tests should be under the same weather conditions to the extent possible.

I'll ask Mark to take a look at this to see if he has any ideas.

5.1 fresh install complete, no EA, no landing lights on (daytime). FSGRW, no ChasePlane and not a saved flight. Always start with default now, then load the Lear.

It’s an Orbx airport with the Rockies enabled. I’ll disable both of those on my next test flight tomorrow.

Stop the presses! See Mark's post above and for a start, check your Fuel Jettison switch below the flap lever.

I’ll check this tomorrow.

Great news and a LOT less work!

Hi Al

Apologies for the delay.

Nothing wrong with the fuel jettison, that is, it was in the off position during the entire replication flight.

I installed ORBX Global (KSUN is an ORBX airport) which I had not done after installing 5.1, removed Megascenery Idaho, loaded the Rockies region and when I landed, no wandering contrails, or fuel.

Now whether this had anything to do with my original problem, I don’t know, yet. : >}

OK, strange for sure. Hope all is fixed.
