Anybody using a 4k screen with a 1070ti?

Recommended Posts

Just curious, picked up a bargain 28 inch 4k monitor yesterday for around 30 dollars 😄

OFC i understand my GPU (1070ti) will just not even be able to breathe but anybody tried it with any settings.

The monitor is freesync , although im still learning about it and what it does.

I would appreciate if anybody could help me get a decent stutter free experience if possible. many thanks.

I have a 1070 but it's not a 1070ti, so mine isn't as powerful as yours. I also have an i7, but its speed is roughly half that of yours. I do have 32 gigs of memory, so I'm ahead of you on that. But I have no trouble running MSFS at 4K using mostly HIGH settings. I get about 28-30 FPS. It's smooth and very immersive. I don't think you'll have any problems at all. As I said, your hardware is better than mine, and I don't have any problems.

I am using a 1070TI Turbo and our other system specs are similar other than I am running 32 GB ram.  I have played around with 4K settings and have gotten smooth performance.  However for some reason my MSFS looks better at 2560 X 1440.  At true 4K with my system I seem to get some pixelated results.  Now waiting on RTX2080 for true 4K.

I use:

i9 9900k

1070 ti with 8gb

64 gb ram

58" Vizio 4K and 27"LG 4k

I can run at 3840 but top out at 22fps and down to 12fps in handcrafted airports.

I typically run at 2560 x 1600 high end/ ultra at up to 46fps and 20-25 handcrafted airports.

The 1070 ti is a beast overall for me for a while. I think I'll wait until MSFS2020 gets optimized (fingers crosed).

Thank's for the reply,

could i ask on how you get it so smooth i felt like mine had plenty of stutters from the get go.

i get around 23fps on high settings at stapleford for example.

Many thanks.

I run a 32" 4k Monitor with a 1080 Ti.  The sim works better at native resolution, but I turn down the scaling to 70 or 80 and works fine.  I average around 50 FPS outside of large cities, 30 FPS inside large cities mostly on high settings, no medium or low settings at all.

As others have mentioned, it's best to turn down the scaling to 70 or 80. That makes a tremendous difference on my system without affecting visual quality. Also, the sim has one peculiarity which I never see discussed. The cloud quality settings greatly affect performance even when skies are set to CLEAR. So if you're flying in CLEAR skies, make sure you have the cloud resolution settings turned down to LOW. If you set the cloud setting on ULTRA (which, to me, is the only setting where the clouds look decent), you're going to kill the frame rate even if there's not a cloud in the sky. I do realize this sounds odd or impossible, so I invite anyone reading this message to check this out for yourself and communicate this oddity to the development team. Water settings, etc., only affect performance when water is encountered in the scenery. Cloud quality settings, however, greatly affect performance even when clouds are totally absent.

I'm in a similar situation to you, I got an LG 4k Freesync monitor yesterday in the Black Friday sales, and all I'm waiting for me to be able to get a next gen GPU (6800XT or 3080) to go with it, for now my 1070 is going to have to cope the best it can. I was also wondering if there is any way to help my poor old 1070?

What's your setting?

I'm only getting 16-17 FPS. Although I admit I haven't messed around too much with my settings.

Mostly HIGH. Scaling turned down to 70 or 80. Clouds on LOW. See my post a few messages up for more details and a workaround.
