Wow FS9 and FSX FPS / dial up warning

Featured Replies

I just reloaded FS9 back on my computer for some planes I wanted to transfer to FSX. Look what I found. This is Seattle maxed on my machine. With everything Stock no addons to FS9.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161772.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161773.jpg19 and 21 FPS hmmm Seems like FS9 is also pretty hard on FPS, now what would the FPS be if we add 4 times more buildings trees and traffic to those FS9 screens what do you think would happen.;-) So FSX is really not doing all that Bad now is it. Now FSX with around the same setting plus photo real scenery and higher mesh.I will bump this thread every now and then just so some people can see FSX really is not all that bad when you use a few cfg tweaks and your sliders. Tey can go down as well as up.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161775.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161776.jpgPictures are worth a thousand words.:) http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161777.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/161778.jpgAnd of course FSX maxed out. Which will kill any Windows computer at this time.

so where's the progress then, they just chucked in more stuff and hoped processor grunt will cover up the naff programming. I think we deserved a more scientific approach than that.

:-roll OK.................smarti05 Maybe in your spare time you can recode FSX for us.:)

>:-roll OK.................smarti05 Maybe in your spare time>you can recode FSX for us.:) Well I've done it already its on my hard drive runs with all the details on plus bloom and autogen at 100fps limited even at the busiest airports, its great. oh no sorry its just nfsc, bf2 etc nevermind.Just typeing that made me feel much better though and if i never run fsx again i can keep believing its true.

Sorry, but in that situation in FS9 (with AS, UT and 100% AI) at 1600x1200 resolution, my FPS does not even drop once below it's locked value of 30. (I even tried 40 and it still stayed the same)Not sure where or what your argument is.........

FxF3, for one who complains about being frustrated about the FS9 vs. FSX debate you certainly do your fair share of fanning the flames.Time for you to realize that posts such as this only create more debate... that will not see any resolution. The folks who enjoy FSX will enjoy that sim, and the folks who enjoy FS9 will enjoy that sim. No reason why the two can't coexist (except for the posters who continue to push one over the other).Hopefully this thread will be locked soon.Greg

I'm not rying to fan any flames. I'm just showing you what the facts are for me. If this thread is locked want be because I'm fan flaming I'm just pointing out that FSX and FS9 can be real FPS hogs. As you can see by my post. No flaming no hype just pictures of FSX and FS9 being a bear on FPS.Why should a thread be locked that show people FSX doing ok on my computer?

I have no argument I'm just showing what FSX and FS9 do on my computer if you get 40 FPS on FS9 then thats great I dont't. Like I was showing. But I do not. So you should also be able to get the same FPS on FSX if you will use the silders to bring FSX down some untill tech catches up with the 4 to 5 times the amount of things going on compared to FS9.

Glad the other FPS games run great for you. FSX runs great for me and this is an FSX forum so if you need any help trying to get FSX to run better let us know maybe somebody can help you. There is a lot to like about FSX. :)

Well i like fsx but its such a wasted opportunity, it does not make use of the capabilities of modern hardware and worse still, this was a deliberate decision to save money. It also has some large unintended bugs on some machines, but otherwise its a well polished product worthy of such a state of the art organisation. You are entitled to your opinion so good luck but some things need to be kept in sight.

"I have a dog.You have a cat. That's life. Dogs and cats."Sorry didnt get that but this is just a thread pouring a little light on how well FSX runs. If the sliders and the CFG file is tweaked nothing more with photos to back it up.There is no reason to distract or raise red herrings the photos are just there to back up my statments. FSX works FS9 works you can fly them both or just one. One does not have to be raised or trashed over the other.FSX has much to offer if you now how to do a few things if you have had FS9 for any length of time you know it also had to be worked with when it was new. Why do the pictures bother some poster? Its just a fact. you can get high FPS in FSX. :) :-wave :-hah That makes me happy because FSX can really shine out of the box and I'm cheap...............

"You are entitled to your opinion so good luck but some things need to be kept in sight."Thats why I posted photo's get it keep in site.:) This was not meant to be a FS( vs FSX bashing thread it was just to show that FS9 could break down my computer. Why I have no ideal when others say the get 50 or 60 FPS in the same place as my FS9 photos. So my FSX experince is better for some reason. All I can say is that FSX does very well on an ATI x1800xl card with a AMD 3800 cpu and 1.5gb ram........

Well if it does get locked, the thread will still have served your purpose...that is to show pics of the frames you get in either sim...RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian
