December 10, 20205 yr I have a number of FSX scenerys which may or ma not be convertible. Can anyone point me in the right direction to attempt this please? Some may fail due to elevation changes, etc. but one piece I always liked was the UK TV and radio masts, which I miss. Only a few bgl and object files, so not too complicated, I guess. December 10, 20205 yr I wish there was a tool to convert FSX/P3D sceneries. There is one aircraft tool to convert. but not one for scenery and I thought scenery would be lot doable compared with trying to convert aircrafts. I would also like a Flight1 tool for object placement like we had for FSX/P3D I need to brush up my 3DMax tool skills to build new objects again I remember during FSX days, I wanted a round white ball for Radar to be placed in O'ahu and begged some folks to make me one which they did and I used it and then I slowly started 3D Max tool set to build more complicated stuff like a Shinto Shrine and Bridge etc. Then build my home airport 52F which is still in AVSIM library. I built a custom runway texture which started reflecting and I sought help to how to make it mat and not reflect and I got help for that and learned about "material" characteristics. I was doing good and then my PC crashed and I lost all my collections and tool set and notes. I did not have a backup so that was the end of that. 🙂 Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 10, 20205 yr Author Yeah, years ago in FSX, I made some nice photo sceneries of the channel Islands using google earth, made flatten files, exclude files, did the painstaking task of water masking and used the RWY27 program to place a lot of objects to make some sparsely populated airfields look a bit more lively, etc. I even started writing mesh files from scratch. It's a long time since I did anything like this and I'm going to have to relearn all those skills again. Still, It will be fun, I'm sure. I don't know if it goes far enough to address your needs, but this freeware mod is a nice one for masts in Europe and North Africa. December 11, 20205 yr Author Wow, thanks 109Sqn. That looks perfect - not sure how I missed that one when I scoured the libraries. It will be added to my sim straight away. Wenvoe and Mendip masts in the UK are particular ones I've been missing, but there are a few others I will search for in my forthcoming flights. Looks like it might save me some work too.
