December 12, 20205 yr My understanding is if I copy a default a/c folder, such as asobo-aircraft-tmb930, from C:\Users\...\...\...\...\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore into my Community folder, the asobo-aircraft-tmb930 folder in the Community folder will take precedence over the original one in OneStore. I should then be free to experiment with flight tuning values for the TMB930 using the Community folder files, but at any time I can go back to the original TMB930 just by deleting the asobo-aircraft-tmb930 folder from the Community folder. Do I understand this correctly, or are there some 'hidden' dangers in doing this? Thx, Al Edited December 12, 20205 yr by ark
December 12, 20205 yr That is my understanding. Some aircraft mod makers will only place a few lines of modified code into the community folder, which work in combination with the default. In other words not only will complete aircraft overides work, but even fragment overides will work. CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K
December 12, 20205 yr That should work just fine, yes. As @Mike S KPDX said you don't need to copy the full folder, but there's no reason it shouldn't work that way if you don't mind having all the extra data sitting around, and doing it that way will keep you from needing to worry about generating a layout file (and updating if it you pull new files into the mod).
December 12, 20205 yr Author Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. I've never worked with JSON files, etc., so I want to keep things very simple, and have an easy way to return back to the default a/c if (maybe I should say 'when') I mess things up. Al
November 3, 20214 yr well, i'm totally confused. i recently downloaded a repaint of the A320, followed the directions to the letter, the repaint does not show up when i select aircraft/liveries. every thing is in the community directory as far as i can see. i took a look into the directory structure and found that all the aircraft have a config file called "state" nothing else, just state. I did the default windows install, worst thing i could have done, directories everywhere. I install all the updates to my D drive because i ran out of space in my C drive 500g SSD. Now i have two community directories. Can i delete one of these? i am no geek being 75 yrs old so i really need things spelt out to me. Help anyone?

You might have downloaded a paint for the flybywire version of the a320? Flybywire being the developers name
