December 19, 20205 yr Hi All I'm thinking of ordering an Oculus Quest 2 so I can use it with MSFS 2020 as well as stand alone apps from the Oculus store and steam games on my PC. I have read that a facebook account is needed to set up and log in to the OC2, so I am planning to use my wife's facebook account to do that as I don't have one nor want one. Any advice anyone has on things that I should consider if I go ahead (such as how to best achieve an easy install, any additional hardware / apps I should consider getting, possible facebook issues with my pc/steam accounts would be much appreciated) ! Thanks
December 19, 20205 yr I doubt there are issues between the two MSFS will give you a choice of SteamVR or Oculus With the Quest 2 you will need a link cable of top quality and price (100 $ or less) as it will not connect wirelessly to the game Your wife's FB account will not telltales about your steam acct Edited December 19, 20205 yr by peppy197

Amazon sell a cable by Anker, approved by Oculus, for about £12. I have no problems with it and it works just fine.
December 21, 20205 yr From Ebay I have a $8 3m USB C 3.1 (no brand) and $30 5m USB A - USB A 3.1 extension (U Green brand) They work great (software confirms it's operating at USB 3) and Quest 2 users are successfully using the same combo at full link res / refresh
December 22, 20205 yr and a u-Green USB-C to USB-A v3.1 adaptor $12 edit - 5m cable extension is by Cable Creations Just make sure everything is rated at least USB 3 (or 3.1 if possible) Edited December 22, 20205 yr by dogmanbird

Here's the Fasgear 5m USB 3.1 cable I bought from Amazon for my Quest 2, works a treat: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B087RC4VD5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 As for the Quest 2 - I hadn't flown flight sims with it until a couple of days ago (I've been using a Rift S as my primary HMD this year). I'm actually really impressed, link is working great and the image is fantastic. I did try Oculus Link with flight sims early on with my Quest 1 and didn't find it satisfactory. I think it's partly more mature link software, partly the Quest 2 being better at this and maybe a change in cable helped as well. Early days for my Quest 2 flight simming, but I'm not sure that I'll go back to the Rift S, which already far better in practice than my Rift CV1 and Samsung Odyssey+ In short, I think the Quest 2 makes a really good flight sim VR solution, and is also great for general VR use. Currently flying: MSFS: PMDG 737-700, Fenix A320, Leonardo MD-82, MIlviz C310, Flysimware C414AW, DC Concorde, Carenado C337. Prepar3d v5: PMDG 737/747/777. December 22, 20205 yr If you've got the Quest 1 headset recognizing it's connected as USB 3, the HMD/Link update has added a built in supersampling setting for values of .9 - 1.5 but it's only available with a USB 3 connection. The update has also improved FPS via link when used as USB 3 and therefore you no longer need to use an extra app to set the SS prior to launching a game. Edited December 22, 20205 yr by dogmanbird
