Loss of Shift-Z Display Info

Featured Replies

I like to have the Shift-Z info displayed all the time. In FS9 it stays displayed at all times even when panning or changing views. In FSX if I set it to display all info sometimes when I pan or change views it disappears. Sometimes pressing Shift-Z will not bring the display back. It is very annoying. Is there a fix? Regards, Bob.

I've encountered this problem as well. In my case, the loss of the Shift+Z display usually precedes a massive drop in frame rates. Are you by any chance experiencing this frame rate drop as well? The frame rates will eventually drop from 25 to 1-2, making the sim unflyable. I'm still trying to figure out what's going on.Robert

Yeppers, I'd like to know the answer to this also. I am one of those who fly with it on all the time. In FS9 I never had a problem but FSX sort of works different.

Hi Robert,Also my Experience. And it seems to be reproducable for me in some specific Scenery Areas (I.E. crusing around LOWI in the European Alps). But it seems to be another Bug of the FSX that "blocks some Ressources" and affects then by it's limited Performance only that I.E. the Shift-Z Feature (like others) are still not longer availabe because the Bug blocked ongoing too many Ressources. For me the only possible solution in this case is to save my flight (if still possible), to terminate and restart the FSX and then lo load back my Flight.Regards Heinz-Werner

Happily, I've not encounterd this. I use both lines of Shift Z to display instrument readings along with frame rates. I use them all the time, and in various views, since I tend to move from the cockpit to several outside views often. Must be a somewhat CPU related problem.L.Adamson

Hi Robert. It sure is annoying. I have 2 Gb of RAM and a large page size. I guess it is just another of the many things that Aces and Microsoft should fix in this simulator. I really don't know why they released it with all the problems in it. I guess the reason was the $$$$. Regards, Bob.

RobertThanks for the new Thread. This seems to be the inital Problem also for the Issue reported here and I still responded on your new Thread. Seems that the HW- and SW-Configurations of the Posters are not identical but they all report the same kind of Problem.Regards Heinz-Werner

Yes, I've seen this also. I was kind of assuming it was a driver issue, even though it has stuck around after a driver update. Since I'm ATI X850 user I'm waiting for newest Omega drivers based on 6.11 CAT's but they haven't been released yet. :-( Anyway, besides seeing the text going away, sometimes the plane (in spot view) will also go transparent at the same time. Also in the mix the ground textures will go transparent(only autogen left visible) or shutter very badly and FS will soon grind to a halt.Only way I've seen it be 'fixed' is to go into Options (like were you can change Autogen rate and such), change a variable then go back into sim. Things will usually be fixed for a while, though sometimes I've had it go apedoody on me again almost seconds later.I've only see this happen when I'm near or in amongst the clouds, never has happened in clear skies. Once in a while I'll scratch my head and wonder if its not because of edited cloud textures. Thought I haven't put back originals to try any experimenting or anything along those lines.

Seems that this is a FSX-Application Problem (runs out of memory) and not a Graphiccard-problem. So also the Omega-Drivers will not help (also a Problem for some NVIDEA-User). And I also know the Problem with not displayed Textures (partial not longer drawn virtual Cocpit parts etc...).Some Users get a Out-of-memory Error-message if they continue the stuttering FS, others not.Robert has still opened a new Thread that fits better:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=375846&page=Regards Heinz-Werner
