POI Scenery Rendering/Pop-In Major Issue

Recommended Posts

Well this was a bust, I flew from KGCC to go look at Devils Tower to the East, following a waypoint I set manually (LNM) and as I approached I began to wonder where the hell it was. Suddenly, as I'm almost directly alongside of the thing it *POPS* into view like a Jack-In-A-Box...incredibly immersion breaking, incredibly pathetic and incredibly annoying.

I wanted to see it in the distance and slowly come up to its magnificence but that was taken away but what appears to be a Major Rendering issue in the Sim.

For the record Zero Mods were loaded apart from the Planes Livery I was using, here's my settings thinking "this should be enough" but apparently not:

VR:
- Terrain Level Of Detail = 200
- Terrain Vector Data = Medium
- Buildings = Medium
- Trees = Medium
- Objects Level Of Detail = 100

I had though the first one at 200 would result in Terrain Objects being drawn much earlier but apparently not this, even so with the others at Medium & 100 I would still expect to see the Tower appear much much sooner than what happened, to reiterate I was no further than 200m-300m hundred meters away at most before it became visible.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any other reports of POI "popping" into view very very late?
It really puts me off wanting to do this again if there's not a decent way to have this fixed, I was sooo looking forward to reliving Close Encounters in VR and this experience has totally ruined that "first" for me so you can see what I'm annoyed and reluctant to try anything else until this gets sorted either by Asobo or perhaps by me if there's' something I can do?

Thanks

Yes.  Same here.  I thought I had mis-navigated.  Then when I looked outside, I could see it behind me.

Another bug that slipped through the net before releasing the update unfortunately.  There are general problems with LOD, scenery morphing, and disrupted coastlines all round, so it might all be part of a bigger problem.

They just seem to take so long to fix these things after they break them.  I wish they would pick up the pace a bit and fix the broken things before adding any new content.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.
