No, it isn't fixed. I has a proprietary plug 10 cm from the headset which I always disconnect when I don't use the headset, while I leave HDMI plus USB connected to the PC.

It's my hope the G2 has the same plug and I can exchange the cable later, should it ever be available separately.

From what I can see from your picture it's the same plug.
