January 23, 20215 yr I'm seriously considering buying the Quest 2 for VR in the sim. But I have a question for you guys with experience: If my use for the Quest 2 is solely for the sim, does it matter whether I buy the 64 or 256 gig version? I know there are advantages if a person is planning to download a lot of games and files, but will MSFS run identically on the 64 and 256 gig versions? Also, I own the original Oculus Rift from years ago. Is there a significant difference in the graphics quality between the Quest 2 and the original Rift? Thanks for your input. January 24, 20215 yr The Quest is an all-in-one VR system designed to be used without a computer. The memory is for storing games on the device. It can be used with a PC using the Link cable with a USB 3.1 type C port on your PC. https://www.oculus.com/accessories/oculus-link/ The Rift S is designed specifically for PC games and includes natural 2K resolution. It connects via display port as opposed to USB. https://www.oculus.com/compare/ If you already own a Quest then you can connect it to your PC. Or if you are interested in the cableless VR games without the need for a PC with occasional PC use then the Quest may be for you. I'd opt for the 256GB version then to store more on the Quest as you cannot upgrade the memory post purchase. However, for full time PC based VR the Rift S is lighter and uses a natural PC resolution. Since MSFS is unlikely to push 80 fps to a Rift anyway I don't think the 10hz extra on the Quest 2 is worth it. Yes you can connect the Quest wirelessly to your PC. However, IMHO in fast paced games even with multiband 5ghz network or just moving your head quickly the wireless method breaks down. I own a Quest. Edited January 24, 20215 yr by KenG

January 25, 20215 yr I bought the Quest2 as my backup VR headset to add to my HP Reverb G1. I really enjoy using it with Virtual Desktop wirelessly connected to my desktop (CPU=9700K+RTX2070). I can fly MSFS2020 about as well (similar clarity and FPS) with either headset and with the Q2, you can bounce back and forth between a SteamVR and an Oculus environment. Since I expect to only have maybe 10 or so games/apps actually running locally (no need for your PC or laptop) on the Quest2 (there is a great WWI flight sim now called Warplanes:WWI on Sidequest ($10) ), I will do well with only 64gb - so far I have 40gb or so left - and you can always temporarily uninstall an app to the Oculus cloud anyway. The side to side clarity is really nice for me and my glasses, plus it's fun with the comfortable VR cover and a third party rigid head band ( like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08NX5QTHB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) and the Link cable ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084H46RHC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) if desired. It's a great and fairly inexpensive system! If you order from Amazon, you can easily return it.
