Thoughts on Cabin/Crew Sounds

Featured Replies

Curious what you folks thoughts are on the available packages that add cabin/crew sounds and functions to MSFS. I've found Self Loading Cargo, PACX, and FS Cabin Crew, but no idea what the quality is for those. Anyone try those or something else?

SLC and PACX perform similar roles: announcements for pre-flight, all phases of flight and arrival at destination; incidents for abnormal events (medical emergency, technical problems, abusive behaviour); interactivity with passengers needs (on-time performance, drinks & meal services, entertainment, aircraft handling); and presentation of a performance score at the end of the flight.

Both are similar, but PACX allows the flight simmer to make their own announcements via voice recognition.
SLC is either TTS or your own custom sound packs (some airlines sound packs are available to download from the site).

SLC is currently in early access, so is cheaper (about $18), whereas PACX is almost $30.

I think either are worthwhile, I just prefered SLC's more screen real estate-friendly interface. Plenty of customisation available with SLC and a developer that really seems to care about his product.

As for FS Cabin Crew, you only have sounds to play and the UI is an old school Windows explorer window. While there is some automation of when the sounds are activated, you may just as well download some airline announcements .wav/.mp3 files from YouTube and play them through a Media Player.

I agree with everything F737NG has said about both programs. I do prefer Self Loading Cargo more myself also. However I might be in the minority but I find myself flying without these programs lately as I cannot focus on ATC listening to the flight attendant make an announcement at the same time. Which is where the customization comes in for SLC for me. I just delete all the passenger announcements as technically as a pilot you aren't watching a safety video from the flight deck or listening to what meal is about to be served....

Im personally more eager for FSCaptain to make its way into MSFS as that was a perfect medium for me as it just focuses on you flying the plane and you still get graded at the end of the flight.
