Memory has been the main cause for me in every build it seems.

DDR4 is less finicky about timings then the bad old days of DDR2 but the right memory is still critical (especially with AMD processors) .

But so is installing it properly.

One of the biggest issues with modern memory is when it takes static damage it no longer fails instantly it develops long term issues that are random and often need either heavy usage (and heat) or sometimes months of time to elapse before they arise.

The end result of this is a very common internet myth that you no longer need to use static protection as modern memory is invulnerable to getting zapped.

It is not and yes you still do, especially if you are intending to overclock.

I've put in over 900 hours into the sim now, I was experiencing a lot of CTDs in the first two months (primarily doing medium & long haul airliner flights and it would almost always crash on approach), however these days I may get one crash every 10 or so flights so it's been pretty stable for me now, and running an older PC (i7 8700K, 32GB RAM, GTX1080Ti OC)
