C208B Mod Setup

Featured Replies

Deciding it was time to take out the C208B, I installed (I thought) what appears to be the current mod for it.  This is the 1st mod that I have had issues with, so I don't know if I am not using the proper install procedures or there are other issues.  Following the instructions, which call for the WT G1000 mod to be copied in first, I did that, then installed the C208B mod.  I'm using the Addons Linker, which is the only way that mods will function with my system.

The confusing thing here is, there is also a folder with the C208B entitled: workingtitle-g1000.  However, the instructions state to first download and install the original g1000 mod (workingtitle-g1000).  So, there are now two folders with identical names going into the Community folder?  Won't this create conflicts?

I've tried several approaches:

  • Followed the instructions exactly - aircraft and NAV system starts but I cannot set any headings into the g1000 - the knobs will not function.
  • Copied in regular WT g1000 mod and the C208B folder (but not the g1000 folder with the same name).  Aircraft starts again, but now I have no operational g1000 system - the screens are blank!

For those of you that are using this mod successfully, how did you do it?

You have to have installed the workingtitle-g1000 mod first. Then, you install the C208B mod and the other folder named "workingtitle-g1000", this last one contains a file that will overwrite an existing file inside the original workingtitle-g1000 mod, to allow the annunciators to work in the G1000 unit. That's all.

It's working here (knobs, and operational G1000 unit).

NOTE: This is from memory, what I recall when I installed the C208B mod.

Thanks, Ed.  This is exactly what I did with the 1st install, which left me with a non-functioning unit.

OK - success!  I renamed the mod folder, hoping that it would force the install order - it apparently worked as it is all functional now.

I have had this mod installed before, but then after installing latest G1000 from WT I cant get it to reinstall!

Might you be able to clarify how you got it working please?

You just renamed the mod folder? To what? Does it load mods in alphabetical order? So presuming need to rename mod folder to later in alphabet than the WT G1000 mod, if that one needs to be first?

Thanks for any help!

I use AddonsLinker for mod installs, only loading the mods for the aircraft I'll be flying.  When AddonsLinker shows the selected mods to copy into my Community folder, it shows them in alphabetical order.  However, the author of the C208 mod stated that the WT g1000 must be copied in first.  (the C208 mod contains an adjustment to the g1000 just for that aircraft).

I don't know if this is what resolved the issue, but I renamed two mod folders (C208B and Uwa light mod - C208 to y-C208B and z-Uwa light mod - 208).  Even though AddonsLinker still showed all of the folders in alphabetical order, it was my hope that the mods would actually be copied appropriately by forcing them to a last to load position.

Since then, the aircraft has loaded properly.
