GTN 750 issue

Featured Replies

Hi .....  hoping i'm not going to be howled off the forum, as this a Flight1 issue, but nobody over there seems interested ..... .... it boils down to non-communication between the GTN750 and the trainer ..... my situation is this ....cannot install trainer  using the exe, as keeps insisting it is already installed on my system ............. in my travels around the web looking for a solution saw the suggestion to install trainer in another W10 pc, , and copy it over  install over to my flying pc, which i did ....runs fine from a click on the exe but no communication with the gauge .... not being given the option to browse to the location of the trainer as in the past .... so, well and truly snookered ............. the party who suggested the copy over gave details of a necessary registry entry, but the age of the posting made it a no go for me, plus i tend to avoid dickering in that area ........greatly appreciate any suggestions ...............

Have you tried the basic approach of uninstalling both the GTN gauge and the Garmin trainer from the Windows / Programs window?

Then reinstalling the gauge via the Flight1 Agent?

As a former user of F1/GTN's I admit I could be very wrong and if I am someone plz correct me and if so I will admit to that effect but here goes, even if you do install the trainer it's now v3.0 and it's my understanding that the latest F1 GTN does not and will no longer support the GTN with this new trainer (again I could be wrong). On their site as of this writing it says "Support for the latest Aviation PC Trainer V2.7.1.0" and not v3.0 and the sim forums are denied unless I register so my info is limited. Unless I view an F1 statement otherwise I view it as no longer supported abandon ware. I know it's harsh but change my mind.

All of that to say that I have personally have had enough and have migrated to RXP for my GTN and GNS for v5.1 using the v3.0 trainer and all is well.

Bert ....uninstalled and re-installed the gauge countless times to no avail ...... the trainer hasn't been evident in control panel for i don't know how long, which of course conflicts with my getting the 'already installed' message ....Stewy, like yourself i think maybe approaching time to look elsewhere .... your understanding re the entrance of v3 trainer to the playing field accords with what i've read .... took a look at the RXP option last week, but was deterred a little by the fact installing seems in most cases to involve DIY rather than aa custom installer ..... of course, as luck would have it Jean-Luc had a  sale on last week .....anyway, appreciate both of you chipping in .......

That is easily overcome by using the RXP install wizard... and lots of help on this forum 😉

I also have converted all my F1 installs to RXP.

Seriously tempted .... I like Stewy have become very tired of the F1 variant, not because of any particular issues with the gauge itself, but with all the attendant nonsense re false positives, lack of support, and their reluctance to move up to the V3 trainer etc, .... but,on the other hand, can't concieve of running the RealAir Duke and Legacy without at least a GTN750 .... so maybe a raid on the piggy bank in order........?

Took the plunge, but currently experiencing 'modified rapture' as a senior moment with the discount vouchers got in the way of a smooth transaction, but hey! who cares .... all part of life's rich pageant!
