Upper deck fancy

Featured Replies

Here´s another classic from good old Britain, an Armstrong Whitworth A.W.650 Argosy sporting a trendy upper deck flight deck.

Intel core i5-12600KF,  ASRock B760-H2/M2, Kingston DDR5-4800 32 GB, Asus Geforce RTX 4060 TI 16GB, Samsung SSD 980 1 TB M.2 SSD, Lexar NM790 SSD 2TB

A strange look indeed, but, I recall, there were a few other cargo/conversions, those days, of equal "beauty",...🙂..., but of such pragmatic design....

Nice shots. Maybe a design like this gave Boeing the idea to come up with the 747 😄

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

I was thinking of ATL (Aviation Traders ATL-98 Carvair),...see a Freeware (SIM) Image (first shot), below, of it. The Carvair was a (ferry) conversion of DC-4, due to Freddie Laker. Flight Replicas (FR) has created pretty much all the diverse variants of DC-4s and of converted DC-4s (nice sample pictures exist of (various) FR DC-4s in their product catalog, on e.g. either JF or Sim Market websites)...

I also recalled, Chock, had posted screenshots of a "conversion" to MSFS, of (FR) (North Star / Argonaut), which plane, itself, was a further development/conversion out of DC-4....(I brought up that North Star post today)...

BTW, Bristol (170) Freighter was another example of a (somewhat) similar looking cargo carrier...(included, below, a freeware SIM image of it, too, for comparison)...

A pretty bunch,...these three,...🙂..., I would say...

All these different manufacturers and designs, just wonderful!

It´s a pity that huge variety of aircraft types and manufacturers has long gone so that today we´re stuck with that boring Boeing/Airbus/Embraer monotony. Sometimes I wish the old days back 🙂

I fully agree. At least we have the opportunity to get them back to life in our sims. That's better than never see them again 😃
