February 14, 20215 yr Hi, Quick question: Is it normal to suffer low fps at UK2000 Heathrow compared to other larger airports by different designers? I'm using a RTX2080 and an i5 9400F 2.9GHz (I know the CPU is a major bottleneck - I'm thinking of upgrading soon). Tweaking with the settings I find that the biggest frame-hitter is the scenery complexity, which I have set to 'very dense'. I can't remember off the top of my head the other settings, but they're all around medium to high, and changing those doesn't really affect frames too much. My other addons are Orbx global and EU England. In the QW 787 at Heathrow I'm getting around 15fps max , but at FSDreamTeam DFW I manage to keep 30 consistently even a night with weather and VATSIM traffic etc. It seems odd to me how I can get around twice the fps at an airport with 7 runways compared to Heathrow's 2 and with a 5x greater land area. I know they're different scenery designers, but is this normal? The only other difference would be EU England, but I don't think that can account for the fps drop. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks Oscar
February 14, 20215 yr Yes Heathrow is bad, I think a lot of it is diwn to ai and surrounding airports. in a 50 mile radius you have gatwick, luton, stansted, london city and london it self. Im not sure if its poorly optimised, which i doubt as all the other uk 2000 airports are fine. But heathrow is almost a no go for me Pete Little
February 15, 20215 yr Author Thanks for the explanation. I'm thinking of upgrading to an i7 10700K or a i9 10850K. Anyone running this setup could give a hint as to what performance I might get? I'm have 6GB of DDR4 2666 RAM, but I don't think upgrading that will make too much of a difference?
