December 13, 200619 yr Heya all,I was just wondering if anyone knows the location(s) of the icons/thumbnails images you see when you unlock a 'reward'?I've tried doing a search for *.gif, *.jpg, *.bmp in the directory I installed FSX into, but I haven't had any luck.If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. :-)Thanks in advance,PlaidAvenger
December 13, 200619 yr I think they are TGAs, and in the Missions directory... I could be wrong though.
December 13, 200619 yr >I think they are TGAs, and in the Missions directory... I>could be wrong though. Thanks for the reply. I did a search but couldn't find any *.tga files at all in my FSX directory.I also did a search through the Missions directory, and sub directories and couldn't seem to find them.
December 13, 200619 yr Author The bitmaps are in a binary coded form within the two files in the rewards directory. So you cannot preview the pictures. However, to get an idea of what rewards are available, just look into the substitutions directory (any hex or binary viewer will do) - there are the names and descriptions of all rewards. It's worth a look..I just found out that the "midwest fly-in" offers some more rewards. Try barnstorming or sheepchasing! :-)

It's worth a look..Um, what part of my tiny brain is malfunctioning now? My FSXSubstitutions folder is empty; devoid of all things; not, as it were, full.
December 14, 200619 yr It's possible that Meerkat has a non-english version of FSX, in which case he has a substitution file to translate certain strings into the appropriate language.Tim Tim http://fsandm.wordpress.com
December 14, 200619 yr I too don't have anything in that sub directory, but I appreciate the responses. :-)I guess maybe I should explain a bit more what I'm trying to do. I've seen some people have reward icons in their signatures, like 100 landings, or 25 hours, stuff like that. So I was thinking it might be easy to access those icons as images.I guess I should ask, the people that are putting them in their signature, are they just doing a screen capture and then isolating the specific icon in something like Photoshop? Thanks again for any replies,PlaidAvenger
December 14, 200619 yr Author Yea, I have the German FSX... therefore the substitutions.LOL - sometimes it has also advantages not to have the original english version (however, the German ATC chatter in the adventures sounds awfully :-( ).For the thumbnails: surely they were taken from screenshots of the rewards, so you have to earn them. But honestly, would you like to see signatures boasting with "10000 flight hours" or such? ;-)
