Three years from the last post above in this message thread and I'm just now experiencing the same problem in Win10 Pro version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.x). Never had the problem before. I'm using nVidia driver version 546.33.

Has this problem been resolved?

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

To avoid this problem, under P3D sound settings, you need to select the specific audio device that you want the simulator to use. Do not leave it at "Default Communications Device" (with which you will have this problem).

Fixed. Crossing my fingers and hoping it stays that way. Thank you.
