NORCAL - Half Moon Bay to Shelter Cove

Starting from Half Moon Bay (KHAF) we proceed north to the Golden Gate, fly under bridge, then overfly Alcatraz Island.  Turning towards Sausalito follow US 101 to our first landing at San Rafael (CA35).  Next is a quick tour of small airstrips around San Pablo Bay: Gnoss (KDVO), Sonoma Valley (0Q3), Petaluma Municipal (O69). 

The route continue north into Sonoma County with landings at Sonoma County (KSTS) and Cloverdale (O60), and then on to Mendocino County with landings at Lampson Field (1O2), Ukiah Municipal (KUKI), Ells-Willits Municipal (O28), then west over the mountains to the Pacific coast to Fort Bragg (82CL). 

The final leg follows California Highway 1 up the coast to the point where the road heads inland. Our route keeps following the coastline 20 miles to the final landing at Shelter Cove (0Q5).

For takeoff on Saturday, set the simulator at 2:40pm local.  We are targeting a golden hour (5:40pm) arrival at Shelter Cove.  Real weather.

Looks like fun! One thing, though, Lampson is in Lake County, not Mendo. (Fifth generation Californian speaking ) Anyway, can't wait to fly with everybody this weekend! Great flight plan, my "neck of the woods," woo-hoo!
