I'm running into the same issue. I deleted the settings.xml but got an activation failed message.

There were some problems with the 2.6.2.1 version.  Download the 2.6.2.2 update.

You don't want to delete the Settings.xml folder.  It has information in it that is used to Deactivate the existing activation.

If you still have a problem, email me your License key and I'll manually deactivate for you.
