Monitor Size Dilema

Hi all,

I am planning on replacing my current 27" samsung monitor(old) 1080p with a newer one. However i am not sure about the size, either 27 or 32" no space

left for anything larger on my desk.

They come in either 27" or 32" and are 240MZ refresh rate and are both 2540x1440p.

They are not cheap but on sale right now, I have had good luck with Samsung. I use the monitor for FS only, no other games. I know there are many other factors

to consider.

I'm not really a fan of a curved screen, especially a 27" one.  It makes a bit more sense with very wide displays, like the 49" G9, for example.  G-Sync is nice to have, but 240MHz refresh rate does nothing for you in the sim.  I'd just recommend you be cautious about paying a premium for capability you can't/won't use.

Being limited on width I would look into a 32" 4k monitor. But as Bob stated above paying a premium for the 240hz refresh rate is over kill for flight sims, unless you are doing this for other games. And even then 120/144 is enough.

Thanks for your replies, I know these G7 are quite expensive and yes overkill, I only have a Geforce 1070 Video card right now so driving anything

larger than 1440p could be a problem, I have spend quite a bit of time finding the right monitor for my use, difficult, so I am asking here if you have any

suggestions or recommendations but nothing larger than 32".

I've been impressed with my BenQ UHD monitor so this FullHD 27" monitor should be on your shortlist.

Although it's only 27" it will be very sharp and the IPS panel is the highest quality. It also supports 60Hz so if you use Riva Tuner SS you can manipulate the refresh rate to 30Hz which will result in a very smooth sim. 30Hz is far more important than very high rates which are useless for flight sim.

Thanks Ray, in the meantime I have gone ahead with purchasing  the Gigabyte M27Q which has very favourable reviews and is in about the same price range

as your suggestion. Still trying to set it up, so much info and settings to get my head around.

@helberger, there is a refresh rate of 60Hz so use Riva Tuner to set a 1/2 rate to get 30Hz. The 144Hz is of no help with flight sim although games will benefit.

It is. You also need to download MSI Afterburner as this provides the relevant data to RTSS. https://www.msi.com/Landing/afterburner

The most useful settings I found are:-

• GPU Usage and temp
•  CPU1 usage
• CPU temp
• RAM Usage
• FPS

The 1/2 setting is in the right but I’m not sure how to set it up. No doubt someone will assist.

The display appears top left by default but can be moved up/down/left/right and sized to make it readable.

Setup both to start with Windows.

Dell 32" curved S3220dgf  gets great reviews.
