December 25, 200619 yr I don't see anywhere to switch fuel tanks in the Lear.My port tank is the only one being used and then I get a fuel inbalance.I tried the crossover switch but that doesn't seem to work. Also how do I set N1 for throttle? Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.

According to the SDK, which admittedly is all too often lacking, it states that the "KEY_CROSS_FEED_TOGGLE" event does this: "Toggles crossfeed valve (when used in conjunction with "isolate tank")". Nowhere do I see any "isolate tank" events, unless they are "conveniently" tucked away in one of the other un-fuel-related gauges. So it seems that "Cross Feed" doesn't. I suspect that once the port tank is empty, the engines will start drawing off the starboard tank. In FS9 tank switching happened in a predictable manner...outboard to inboard but with both left & right tanks it usually drew off both in a pair until they both emptied. To further confuse matters, here is the applicable section of the aircraft.cfg file that defines tankage: ( comment removed )(fuel)Center1 = -41.4, 0.0, -1.5, 359.0, 0.0 LeftMain = -36.3, -10.0, -1.5, 268.5, 0.0 RightMain = -36.3, 10.0, -1.5, 268.5, 0.0 fuel_type = 2 number_of_tank_selectors = 1electric_pump=1 Notice there are THREE tanks specified, not two. methinks that the "Port" tank is, in reality both the Left and Right main tanks and the "Starboard" tank is the Center1 tank. Looks like another case of inadequate testing/attention to detail! One could "fix" this if one knew which of the conditions were really meant to be...2 vs 3 tanks. Creating tank selector code in XML isn't that dificult. Paul
December 25, 200619 yr There actually are 3 tanks in the Lear, port, center and stbd.I don't think they will automatically switch over when one runs out. That's probably why I get a fuel imbalance warning.I found an earlier post regarding same thing and no one appears to have a solution.Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.

Put the same load in each of the three tanks then fly. See if the right and left tanks are drawn down by equal ammounts. If so, then FSX is working much like FS9. If not, then there is a problem. Paul
December 26, 200619 yr Done that.Port tank is the only one that is used.Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
December 26, 200619 yr The only solution I found was to load the default Maule and select both tanks. It will suck from both tanks. Bob.. Bob Prince
December 26, 200619 yr Bah. I just fly with unlimited fuel in everything :( What I hate about this versions Lear is what did the do to the flight director???? How the **LL am I to set the preferred altitude, heading, whatnot, with no numnbers displayed??? ARgggh! Twist it then pass the mouse over to see the reading? That sucks
December 26, 200619 yr Autopilot works fine for me.Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
December 27, 200619 yr Which aircraft do you use as your default startup? If it is one of the ones that only have 2 tanks that need to be switched that could be causing your problem. When you switch to the Lear the program may not be resetting it's parameters. Try using the 172 or KingAir as your default startup aircraft and see if that fixes the problem when you switch to the Lear. I have had no problem with the Lear and I fly it all the time. I have the KingAir as my default. RichardS

There is a lot more to bedone though. IE: the 737's autopilot controls are semi ok I guess, but still not totally realistic in function vs the realdeal. Ditto for 747..I'd like to see them do more with that in later versions. When I fly a boeing, I like the autopilot functions to be realistic. Otherwise, it's sort of a joke. And it *can* be donetoo. Heck, they still haven't come up to what Eric Ernst did with his 757/767 panel, and that was for like FS98?? or so..That was one of the few boeing panels that actually operatedin a fairly realistic manner. BTW... I wonder what happened tothat guy.. I guess he ain't doing panels anymore.. Flying thatbig iron for American I bet..MK Mark Keith
