The Wikipedia page seems to indicate that EGSC Cambridge will be closed to all traffic by 2030 at the latest. I have always considered it to be a rather strange airport, with no main hard taxiway connecting both ends, and no defined aprons/ramps anywhere (apart from the grass one for small GA planes). It looks more like an industrial area than an airport.

Back on topic, this looks like a superb rendition of Oxford airport.

You are right about EGSC being a strange airport. A couple of years ago I took flying lessons from Mid Anglia School of Flying at EGSC.

The have a fleet of four PA-28 training aircraft, and I enjoyed flying them out of Cambridge airport. I do recall that the taxi pattern was difficult, nevertheless I enjoyed flying out of the airport.  At about this time Darwin Airlines, a Swiss airline but headquartered in Lugano attempted non-stop service to Geneva and from there connections throughout Europe.  The airline was running morning and afternoon departure from Cambridge. Evidently the traffic level was lower than expected, and the service was terminated.

Currently the airport has a few companies involved in aviation services. Marshall, the owner of the airport, has a contract with the MOD for certain maintenance and upgrade of their aircraft. Marshall also owns several automobile sales sites across the street from the airport, and I think the company headquarters is in the old terminal building.

I realise this is off topic, but I believe it is a related topic of interest. The airport's likely eventual is part of a trend of closing GA airports in favour of housing developments.

Got it, love it.
Lot of dedication and passion involved for sure.
👍

Thank you!

Bought it earlier today. Very impressive. I spent a lot of time pootling around the airport in my Piper Arrow taking in the sights.  FPS took a bit of a hit here and there, but nothing to shout about. I guess, given the complexity of the airport, that a performance hit is inevitable.

Tried varying the weather conditions a bit to see how it stands up, visually.  Dawn or dusk, with rain, and it looks absolutely incredible. Be nice if Pilot Plus can work some similar magic in other parts of the UK.  Somewhere not saarf east would be good 😉

This does look jolly rather nice. I’m looking for a nice home for my new JF Piper Arrow III. This could be just the ticket 🙂

Thank you! It could be indeed!

After really enjoying the airport since buying it, and being extremely  impressed with the quality, I ended up going the whole hog. I’ve since bought Southend and Wycombe Air Park. So I now have the holy trinity.  I just love the way they blend perfectly into the world, but still manage to stamp an extra level of quality onto things without any jarring effect at all.  Spent a very enjoyable evening flitting between them.  I shall keep an eye out for any future releases.
