Aeromaritime DC-8-33

Featured Replies

I like to dig around looking for rare or unusual liveries & that is how I stumbled upon the Historic Jetliners Group, (HJG).

Over the years they have produced a wide range of freeware aircraft & liveries for FSX & earlier versions of MFS, focused on the early jetliners, such as the DC-8's, Boeings & Tristar.

A backgrounder on them is here:

There website with Forums & Downloads is here:

https://simviation.com/hjg/main.htm

The downloads come in the form of a "Base" aircraft D/L, to which you can add Panels & Sounds specifically created for that Base, & you can also D/L Effects files for the various aircraft, plus Liveries, many of which are rarely seen these days.

Putting it together only requires you to be able to use Notepad & be able to edit & save  files such as Aircraft.cfg.

What you get is a custom aircraft with  excellent flight characteristics, panel & Sounds, & hard to find liveries.

Model Designer: Dee Waldron, Flight Dynamics: Michael Verlin, Mike Monce, Mark Cranston.

The DC-8-33 below is clad in a Aeromaritime livery by Tony Madge.

The Panel is by M. Balzarotti, M. Verlin, S. Weiher, G. Carty & J. Detrick.

The Sound for the P&W JT4A TURBOJET  is by Benoit Plamondon.

The P&W JT4A produced a lot of noise & smoke on take off. The shot below shows some, but I have the HJG DC-8-11and that generates a  lot more.

Nice...(always loved those mid-series DC-8 variants)...

Glad you put it all together to enjoy this HJG plane...and, agree, unknown/forgotten/unusual liveries are always great fun to explore...! (HJG taught me about jets...)

There's definitely something about these old beasts. Great livery on a great aircraft.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used
