May 20, 20215 yr I am moving to P3d v4 and I am choosing a scenery setup. I read on Flight1 that Orbx Open LC works with GEXP3d. Has anyone used this or a similar combination? Thanks.
May 21, 20215 yr Moderator I've used the Orbx LC products with GEXP3D with no issues. I like the result. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

May 23, 20215 yr I couldda sworn that OpenLC requires Orbx FTX Global (which is a competing product to and not compatible with GEXP3D). As I understand it, OpenLC creates mappings using the extended classmap contained in FTX Global. IOW, I think OpenLC defines the LC used for tiles using an expanded list of texture tiles that are only defined/available in FTXGlobal. The Orbx website says that FTXGlobal is required for proper operation of OpenLC. I use FTXGlobal, UTX for vector scenery, and OpenLC for landclass in P3Dv4 and v5. May 23, 20215 yr Moderator You are correct, Orbx says that but the product worked for me with no noticeable issues. They say their PNW and other areas require FTX Global also and I've also used them. Methinks they are just hyping their own products. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
May 23, 20215 yr Author If orbx uses anything close to real world mapping and gep3d uses the same data then it shouldn't be surprising they could actually work together. If neither actually uses real world data then what is being represented below us? Some sort of star trekkie alternate earth?
May 23, 20215 yr Author Too bad nobody has access to Pentagon Landsat data. Imagine the detail if THAT scenery.
