IMHO, Simconnect (or Asobo's flaky implementation of it) is the major contributing factor to many CTDs. I try not to run any addon that uses it - and don't have CTDs. A friend of mine keeps installing the odd one that does - and often gets CTDs as a result. LittleNavMap, for instance, is an amazing addon - but uses Simconnect and can cause grief - unless you tweak the update delay. Much as I like LNM, I daren't use it beyond a quick "looksee" when in flight.
