P3D V3.5 weird shadows

Featured Replies

Hello and good night to everyone, a couple of minutes ago I was doing some night flying on P3D and noticed some strange issues while moving around in the VC from the B60 Duke from Real Air, however, i switched to the default Mooney plane and the issue persists, i took a couple of screenshots of it, this only happens during night flying... Has anyone else had it or experienced it? It also follows the camera too while panning on the VC, it also seems that this only happens while taxiing on default taxiways, wont show as frequent on add on airports (which have custom textures for taxiways).

Here are a couple of screenshots.. (have to download them from drive)

Im running P3D with an i5 processor and a GTX 1050 GPU, i know it isnt the best setup but bear with me.. I've been flying with this for a couple of years and never had a problem.

Sim is pretty much stock, the only addons which could modify the behaviour of the simulator and how it looks are Orbx OpenLC SA, Pilots FS Global, FTX Global, OpusFSI and REX 4

As for aircrafts only been flying with the B60 Duke from real air, Maddog X and TFDi 717.

Note: If i disable cloud shadows casting on the ground the problem disappears but im wondering if there's some workaround to avoid disabling that option.

Many thanks in advance.

I'm guessing this is P3Dv3.4 (there is no 3.5).  Looks like the old v3 night cloud shadows due to moon illumination.  To get rid of them you...OK, wait for it...disable cloud shadows from casting on the ground.

Hello, yes i was wrong, it is 3.4, oh thats very disappointing, so no fix at the moment for that? Is v4 affected by that too?.

Thank you for your reply.

I would not hold your breath if you are expecting LM to fix an issue with an old version of P3D. They moved on from v3 in 2017.

Well it does bother me at some point but not enough to stop flying with it, I wonder if they corrected most of the shadow issues on V4 🤔
