No idea but the content manager is saying 2 of the world updates need updates?!  Downloading like 10GB of stuff...

Yeah I never check the Content Manager for updates for some reason. And I should!

OK. The data base and scenery depiction are now working for the additional addon airports.

This afternoon, between 12:00-17:00, I tested and retested the airports with the same results. No recognition in the World Map airports dropdown box. When I "flew" to the airports, they were sort of there – but trees covered some parts of the runways and there were lumps and bumps and slopes in the landforms that did not exist before (as the authors had created them).

So I submitted a bug report to ZenDesk. (Well, I did so twice. The first time went into a loop but the second detailed submission was accepted.) Then took off for a couple of hours to do human things with family.

In the meantime, I recalled that what did not work for Bert suddenly did work. Hmm.

Came back and tried the @in2tech suggestion. I renamed (and saved twice ... you said "be careful") the content.xml file. Then restarted MFS and it generated a new much smaller content.xml. (Presumably leaving off things that I no longer had activated.) And then went to World Map and ... all the additional addon airports were in the data base.

Then renamed the newly created content.xml and activated yesterday's content.xml that I had temporarily renamed. Started MFS and the World Map airport dropdown worked, having all the additional addon airports in the data base. I then visited these airports and found them to be in the proper shape that the authors intended. No stray trees or lumps or slopes.

So thanks everyone, especially @in2tech. I do not know why MFS could not handle the additional addon airports (neither identify them in the data base nor depict them accurately in the sim) for five hours of trying and re-trying. Then, three hours later the untouched MFS suddenly worked properly.

Yes, I did have MFS recreate the content.xml and that worked. But when I reverted to yesterday's content.xml it worked equally well.

I would say that this is a mystery of life. But I'm sure that our friends at Asobo don't want to have Microsoft Flight Simulator operations to depend on the mysteries of life.

So again, thanks to everyone for the helpful ideas and suggestions.

I guess you mean this, "Coffee, if your not shaking, you need another cup"?

And BTW, I also had to do the content.xml thing today after the update, to get some of my add on airports working 🙂 Sometimes it works, sometimes not! We both got lucky I guess!

One thing I have noticed.  Don't play right after the update.  Exit MSFS, restart the computer and then go back into MSFS.  I had some nasty stuttering issues and missing scenery airplanes not working.  But then I exited, restarted and came back in and all was right with the simulated world.
