June 1, 20215 yr I read two different methods of adding scenery in P3d v4. Would the FSX method with addon scenery folder and scenery and texture subfolders work? Thanks

June 1, 20215 yr Author I tried the FSX method with the freeware Teterboro package as a test. That airport uses it's own folder. I copied it out of my FSX Steam directory and placed it in my LM folder on drive D. I opened library. Highlighted the folder and then checked cache scenery. Right away I get error, close P3d and delete such and such bgl. I closed P3d, deleted it and tried again. Went through this several times. Gave up and removed it. Second experiment I made a folder with my freeware KMDT mod. It's a small two bgl file with default textures. Same thing happened but this time after clicking okay the sim loaded anyway and it looked as it does in FSX. Now, I do have UTX, FTX Global, FTX NA, FTX Global Buildings, FTX Global Airports Freeware. I have a list of US airports in that and neither TEB or MDT are on it. I checked first. Perhaps TEB needed a texture not present with FTX package?
June 1, 20215 yr In 64-bit P3D, many of the older sceneries that used MDL8 SCASM no longer work, as LM removed the ASM code from the simulator beginning with P3Dv4. So there's no guarantee that FSX scenery--especially older stuff or newer stuff using old methods--will work in P3Dv4/v5 regardless of how it's installed. Many FSX sceneries do still work...and many do not. It takes a trial-and-error process to test for compatibility. June 1, 20215 yr If you really want to put FSX airports in current P3D V4/5 you're going to have to set aside some time, watch youtube tutorials for Model Converter X and Airport Design Editor. Success isn't guaranteed but those two can help.
