January 22, 200719 yr Hi Phil, you're about the only person who posts on here that might know this specific question.I've looked everywhere for the specific ports FSX uses for the Gamespy connection to multiplayer, and have not found which ones they are. I found the ports that FS2004 used, but not FSX. I need the exact ports so my university IT department can unblock the ports so I can gain access to FSX multiplayer. Any help is greatly appreciated, edit: I think I may have found them, they seem to be the same as FS9?http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925896/en-usPort Protocol Inbound / Outbound23456 UDP Both6073 UDP BothIs that correct? Thanks, ~Ryan | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 23, 200719 yr Sorry, I don't know the ports we use off the top of my head, but does your university have any kind of proxy servers, possibly with a special client app you need to run on your PC? At Microsoft, we have these and can access GameSpy from within CorpNet without requiring the IT department to specifically open the ports (having the port open all the time possibly allows someone to "find" your PC, or at least your network, from the internet side, which makes it easier to carry out various hacker style attacks). January 23, 200719 yr Hi Tim, yes in fact we do, it's called Cisco Clean Access Agent. But I cannot config anything, it would have to be done our IT guys. I have this request form to ask for the two ports I found but I don't know if they run proxy servers. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 24, 200719 yr Author Based on your discussion this is probably an amazingly silly post, but, when you choose to go to multiplayer and select network settings, it tells you that it uses ports 6112 to 6122, and allows you to change this. What information are you missing? Could you perhaps rephrase the question for us dumbies who might also run into this problem?Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
January 24, 200719 yr <>The really silly part is I worked on that dialog and completely forgot it was there :-> Tim http://fsandm.wordpress.com
January 24, 200719 yr yeah but I changed that and it didn't matter. However on that site url I linked in my original post it said the only TWO ports that FSX uses. I hope that INCLUDES the gamespy ports needed too. I have to send in my unblock request soon and I want to get them all right.Tim, is there any possible way you can check with Phil, or anyone from ACES to see exactly which ports they are? (for gamespy login and hosting etc)That would be greatly appreciated!edit: oh, Thomas, what is happening here is that my campus firewall/routers do not allow me to login to gamespy, because the firewall etc blocks those access ports from where I connect to my DSL connection in my apartmenthere's the page I was referencing:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925896/en-us | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 24, 200719 yr For FSX and your firewall, use:Port Protocol23456 UDP in/out6073 UDP in/outhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/925896/en-us
January 24, 200719 yr hi erik, does that include logging on to gamespy too?Thanks | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 24, 200719 yr Author How come by default FS chooses 6112 to 6122 if it is using 6073?There seem to be more ports being used than those two?Looks like a job for a good technical article to expand on the one above in FSInsider.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
