June 20, 20214 yr DLSS would only be necessary ( as opposed to nice to have) if they implemented Ray Tracing which is highly unlikely at present. Ray Traced cockpits in VR would be unbelievable and beyond stunning (though of course the AMD support group would all claim they "see no difference" and deem it a "waste of money" 😄 ) .

I think people are overexcited about RT in flight simulation. The global illumination model of MSFS is pretty solid, and the gain would be minimal. Why? Because at daytime, there is only one light source, and shadow improvements (precision, coloring ect.) would be very hard to make out and not worth the GPU time. RT really shines in dense environments and interiors with many light sources. I don't think many would be able to tell the difference in MSFS however. Yes, cockpits would look a bit better lit (especially at night), but overall they look pretty stunning already (especially when "faking" RT using NVIDIA Freestyle at no perf. impact). I don't know if many would be willing to sacrifice, say, 30% of their performance for real RT there. DLSS would be nice to have either way, who would not want a solid gain with minimal trade-off. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20

The June 30th Q&A will discuss DX12 Umm, why? Everybody does it. Why would they punish NVIDIA users only because there's inferior tech out there? - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20
