Ip problem?

Well....

Woke up this morning and suddenly unable to reach Avsim from any computer or tablet in the house. All sorts of cache clearing, dns tomfoolery and etc proved futile, and now wondering if I am now part of some blocked ip range.

Not wanting to spend all day fiddling with it, I dropped the subject.

A few minutes ago, I joined some free, probably fly by night vpn and got through just fine, though still unable to access the site in any other way.

Any suggestions?

It could be your connection has both IPV4 and IPV6 ip addresses, and you possibly lost IPV4 connectivity. Not all sites on the internet are on IPV6, but most of the big popular ones are. 

I've had this happen before where I couldn't get to quite a few IPV4-only sites but another person in the house could still reach their favorite IPV6 enabled sites (facebook, google etc.). You don't usually even notice if you're hitting a site via IPV6 vs. IPV4, it just works. 

Quick fix: reboot your modem / gateway / router / access point and computer.. it may refresh your IPV4 connection. 

EDIT: Nevermind.. www.avsim.com does have an IPV6 address.. I should have checked before posting 🙂
