ATC infinite loop

Featured Replies

Had a bit of a fly about last night, and approached Blackpool airport for a landing. I had the comms set to AI, and the conversation got a bit odd….  The AI would announce my position and request a landing, and ATC would inform me that conditions had changed and it was IFR only, and my request to land was denied. Not to be deterred, my AI would pipe up again requesting permission to land, only to be met with the same response. And this went on and on and on. The only variance in the chatter was my ever-changing position relative to the airport. It was quite funny, as there was no gap between refusals and fresh requests. Clearly an oversight in the logic programming. Anyone else had a dose of this, or similar, behaviour?

I'm assuming you were doing a VFR flight. Next time that happens, open the ATC panel and scroll through the options to see if there is one called something like "Ignore weather for this airport". I've seen that when starting at an airport that is currently IMC but I have not filed an IFR flight plan. I don't know if it would appear in the situation you described. Also, since it is in a loop, you may have to turn off comms AI temporarily.

Please let me know when MSFS communications and guidance become realistic.  ATC/ATIS/AWOS. I surrendered months ago and have seen no light at the end of the tunnel. It all seems way too "generic".

Yes, I was doing a VFR flight. I’ll try the ignore weather option if it presents itself anytime in the future.
