July 7, 20214 yr Hello For example castle, water dam, sea lighthouse etc On my GTN what is the procedure to locate the point on the map and give it a name? NB: the latitude and longitude of the point are known. Thanks
July 7, 20214 yr Hi, you can create user waypoints in device, but if you're into managing lists of user waypoints, I'd suggest you list them all in a file instead and import the user waypoints in the device. This way, you'd be able to restore them all easily anytime you wish to reset the device user waypoints, and you can manage separate lists as well. This is all documented in the RXP User's Manual in a "User Waypoint" chapter.

NB: the latitude and longitude of the point are known. Thanks Roland, Here is an excerpt from a Garmin pdf publication titled "Guideline for GTN Flight Plan and User Waypoint Files". It was available online for quite a while but I can no longer find it. I have the pdf file and can email it to you if you send me a private message here on Avsim and provide a good email address. Here is an example from that publication of the file format for user waypoints. It is basically a waypoint identifier (you define it but no spaces or punctuation), then a description, then the lat and lon in the format you see. Then as RXP directed in his message, once the file is created you need to position it as described in the RXP GTN User Manual. Hope this helps. 3.3 User Waypoint File Examples file: MTHOOD,MT HOOD PEAK,45.3723,-121.69783 CRTRLK,CRATER LAKE,42.94683,-122.11083 EIFFEL,EIFFEL TOWER,48.858151,2.294384 OCEAN,,32.687356725,-51.45543634 Frank Patton Corsair 5000D Airflow Case; MSI B650 Tomahawk MOB; Ryzen 7 7800 X3D CPU; ASUS RTX 4080 Super; NZXT 360mm liquid cooler; Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM; RMX850X Gold PSU;; ASUS VG289 4K 27" Display; Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Crosswind 3's w/dampener.
