RTMM and Bella Coola...

Featured Replies

When I installed P3Dv5.2 a few weeks ago I decided to use the Return To Misty Moorings mega install for P3Dv5 instead of installing it piecemeal as I had done before.  The only sceneries I have installed are RTMM and all the Orbx  North American sceneries and airports.

Bella Coola is one of my favorite airports for exploring central British Columbia.  But RTMM has literally butchered it and made the airport unuseable.

This is what RTMM has done to my Bella Coola:

Obnoxious orange flare visible from the moon.
Water Tower right smack dab at the end of the runway.
Flagpole in the middle of a taxiway flying an AMERICAN flag, NOT a CANADIAN flag.
A bunch of snow fences across a taxiway
House in the middle of a taxiway
Sailboat on dry land
Large tree growing out of the center of the helicopter landing pad
Fire truck blocking a taxiway
Large building on the parking ramp
Several signs advertising office space for rent.

I disabled RTMM and Bella Coola has returned to it's beautiful rustic self.  And the obnoxious orange flares at several airports including Bella Coola have gone away.  Disabling Orbx's Bella Coola (CYBD) and PFJ did not solve the problem

Now I like RTMM but I am back to installing it piecemeal and then checking it out as I go along.

I have no idea why or how RTMM did what it did to Bella Coola.

Don't tell me to go to RTMM as there is already an active thread about this problem.  Perhaps someone here had the same problem and found a solution.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

From my post on the RTMM forum:

Quote

The objects in the RTMM scenery appear to have been placed based on the default FSX/P3D airport.  The Orbx PFJ scenery upon which RTMM is based, in part, moved the airfield, resulting in all those objects (water tower, tree, vehicles, bldgs etc) being misplaced.

In ...\RTMM Addon (P3Dv4)\05-RTMM Addon Scenery\Birds-Bella Coola-Orcas Isl-PFJ\scenery remove or disable all the files Bella1.bgl thru Bella11.bgl to eliminate the misplaced objects.

Just left the RTMM site to come over here and tell him. That works. I told you to have patience Noel. The guys at RTMM always come through. It just took a bit of work to nail down.

Blame OrbX, not RTMM !!

Well, nobody is to "blame"...but since RTMM specifies that Orbx Pacific Fjords is a required prerequisite for their scenery, it follows that anything added should build on top of that, as anyone following their installation instructions will have PFJ and the CYBD scenery within it.

I suspect that in this case RTMM incorporates a freeware work by someone else that was designed for the default scenery.  The American flag was kind of curious, though--watch out, Trudeau!!  😜

Stuff happens...

Well, since I have gone back to piecemeal installation of RTMM I have not installed Birds-Bella Coola-Orcas Isle scenery yet I'll just leave everything the way it is.   But it's nice to know there is a fix for it.  Thanks.
