Motion reprojection only at 30FPS?

Featured Replies

I see, that with reprojection MSFS runs only at 30 FPS .... but without (so OFF) I have 51-58 FPS so why with refresh rate on 90Hz I dont see 45 FPS on reprojection auto?

Is it blocked to 30 FPS only? Do you know something about it and how to force it to 45?

It looks like after SU5 it works a little different. Now its blocked at 30 level (1/3 refresh rate for G2). If you turn off reprojection, the picture is sharpen (!) and looks better, however on gauges you see issues with reprojection off (stutter). Maybe 45 will be fine?

Have you checked if your OpenXR and OpenXR Developer Tool has an update available? It sounds a little like you are running an older version considering that the latest of both will allow OpenXR's reprojection to work with a constant  22.5fps output from a game

If you are not sure how to check, type "microsoft store" into the windows search bar, then click the three ... in top right corner to check if there is an update for anything.

Yeah, the image is a little less sharp, and a little wobbly in places, with reprojection on. I still prefer to have it on and a smooth 90fps

P.S I think it's the reprojection function that is locking the FPS on the MSFS dev mode display (and will lock it to whichever it can consistently maintain from the games output - either  22.5, 30, 45)

Reprojection flogs the system a bit. So you may be seeing 45fps with it off, but turned on, it will tax the system by about 10-15fps. Therefore it's most likely going to lock the fps to 22.5

If the game can't maintain 22.5, it may keep turning reprojection on and off, which tends to look worse (more jittery) than keeping it turned off completely, from my experience

I have the same wish.  I you figure this out, let us know.

50 FPS with repro off, but with it on, I get 30, not 45.  My guess was that it is targeting a certain headroom for when load is higher, but maybe it's the repro calcs themselves.

I can get it to switch to 45 if I look up at the sky or ground with nothing to draw (or if I drop the render scale), so the 45 mode is there, just that my 3090 doesn't have the horsepower with the post-SU5 coding.

Hi, are you using the Open XR Developer app for reprojection, or are you using Steam's reprojection?

I’m using OpenXR dev app.

are you using the latest version? (checking in the microsoft store for update)?

Yep.  As of yesterday.  Windows insider enabled, and preview enabled in the tools app.
