VR uses PC settings
BufordTX replied to Spit40's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)2D settings are not supposed to affect VR rendering, but it could be a bug. Remember back when 2020 did something similar? It was something like setting 2D LOD at 200 or something, made VR better? Someone else here might have better memory than I do. Has anyone else tried reducing 2D settings, like OP?

Islandsims take on PMDG
I'd rather have framerate over 100,000 polygon tires for some youtuber.

SayIntentions, 20:00z, Dec 11th - A complete mess
It's getting worse. Last 3 days have been chaos from SI. Forgetting I'm in the air. Nonsensical vectors, not reading flight plan, not finding my Simbrief flight plan. Pushback not working, or ignoring direction instructions. Not renewing unless they make major improvements. Is BATC any good for IFR airliners?

It's getting worse. Every other flight, I get incoherent instructions. When it's working, it works well..just a roll of the dice.

Boris Audio Pack for PMDG 777 Coming in October!
I wish he'd release it. Its with tubers and influencers now, and is withheld from paying customers. I hate this new 21st century business practice. It sounds great. I have many days and nights sitting next to a (and slightly in front of) a GE90 in business class. The startup, takeoff, and climb power reductions, are perfect...like I'm back in a window seat. The problem is, PMDG will be releasing an update for free. And, if it's good enough, well, $15 is $15, and I'm lazy. Oh, and those tubers you're favoring now?, every one will be doing another video about the new PMDG sounds also. My business consultation to this developer would be: Drop the influencer marketing hype BS Fire the person who told you to do that. Tubers will still make videos of it for you....they need the clicks regardless. Your two videos are enough. They have shown everyone how great your product is. Get this thing on the market NOW, TODAY, Friday, before Bobby R erases half your market. Don't believe me? Ask any of several developers in the 90s and 2000s who made software for sale...what happened to your business model when MS bundled a free version with Windows? This one is different. You have a clock ticking on this one. Keep up the great work.

Sense of humor is the second thing to go when you get old.

Boris Audio Pack for PMDG 777 Coming in October!
The sounds in that video are awesome and very realistic. The 777F and -300ER stock sounds from PMDG are awful. The -200ER is better but still bad. For $15?!, this will be a day 1 buy for me.

MSFS official forums is absurd !
SU3 introduced a bug with LODs in VR. It severely affects the PMDG 777s. Someone (not me) found a workaround. Kok made a post showing how to do the workaround in dev mode and did not cite the original discoverer, but he got it wrong and showed the wrong setting in his post. I made a nice post (not mean or anything), highlighting the correct selection. I made screenshots in VR, showing the setting on and off, with the effect on the VR cockpit. I suggested he fix his post, which was sticky'd. Came back in a few days to see if any comments. He fixed his post. No credit to me. And the SOB deleted my post! Gone. No reference. It was even gone from my post history. That guy needs to retire and just go somewhere else and yell at kids to get off his lawn. Yes, PMDG is worse than the official forums.

fs2024 su3 vr center broken?
BufordTX replied to kdfw__'s topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)Another VR bug created in SU3. You have to center view before entering VR. All those betas only work if they fix what is found in them....as opposed to targeting a date for a conference.

A2A Aerostar is now available
Another important binding to set is Autopilot pitch sync. Bind "A600 AUTOPILOT PITCH SYNC PRESS" to a button and "A600 AUTOPILOT PITCH SYNC RELEASE" to the same button but upon release. This is an actual button on the real plane yoke. You press and hold it to release the pitch servos, then pitch the plane manually (push or pull the yoke) until you have the pitch or VS you want. Then release the button. That becomes the new pitch setpoint for the autopilot in "ATT" mode. FWIW, I used the IAS button on the Bravo. It's very handy to have available and I can see why it gets the coveted yoke button status. You can also use the pitch scroll wheel down by the AP controls to make fine adjustments to the pitch, while in ATT mode.

A2A Aerostar is now available
Did a bit of fiddling and got the flaps lever to work with the Bravo. 1. For the Aerostar, Bravo, created a new profile, go to Flight Control Surfaces, Secondary Control Surfaces 2. For Decrease Flaps, click on the left box to scan and flip the Bravo lever up and then let it spring back. Should show Joystick Button 16 3. For Increase Flaps, click on the left box to scan and flip the Bravo lever down and then let it spring back. Should show Joystick Button 15 4. For Flaps Axis (0-100%), click the left box to scan and flip the Bravo lever down. Should show Joystick Button 15 5. For Flaps Axis (0-100%), click the RIGHT box to scan and flip the Bravo lever up. Should show Joystick Button 16 6. For Flaps Axis (0-100%), click the gear icon. 7. With the selector at the bottom on Primary, on the left side of the screen it should show Joystick Button 15 with a check mark Set "Input Value" to 50.00 Select "Set Control on Release" (checkmark to the right) 8. 7. Move the selector at the bottom to Secondary, on the left side of the screen it should show Joystick Button 16 with a check mark Set "input value" to 50.00 Select "Set Control on Release" (checkmark to the right) 9. ESC back out to Save and Back Now, moving the flap level down and holding it moves the aircraft flap lever down, and holds it. Upon release, it sends the flaps 50.00 command and the aircraft lever returns to the middle. Vice versa for flaps up. You have to watch the flap position indicator and stop the movement when they're where you want them.

PMDG 777-200ER Released
- PMDG 777-200ER Released
Still no pushback on EFB nor CDU.- Do 2020 and 2024 share the same NVidia profile?
BufordTX replied to odourboy's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)There's a separate profile for 2024 that came with 566.14. You're probably using the default if the game is not found.- PMDG Cost Index Question
Loading simbrief on the tablet just puts the .rte file in the Flight Plans directory and the winds .wx file in the WX directory. Packages/pmdg-aircraft-B7??/work/Flightplans and Packages/pmdg-aircraft-B7??/work/WX. If you hit flightplan downloads after creating generating the plan and scroll down to PMDG, simbrief will download them. Then you can select the route and download winds from the FMC. But, of course, that involves mousing, albeit without using the tablet.- PMDG Cost Index Question
Same here. Actually, you tell Simbrief what CI to use, then it's reflected in the flight plan (and fuel calc), then if you accept performance parameters, it's entered in the FMC (overwriting the airplane's default CI). The CI that appears in the Simbrief flight setup page is actually the saved CI for that airframe. Look in saved airframes / edit the one you're using / aircraft performance section. Then look at the default cruise profile. The CI tells the FMC how to make the cruise speed tradeoff between fast-short-time-high fuel-use and slow-long-flight-time-low-fuel-burn...based on economics..cost of an hour of flight time vs. cost of a pound of fuel. Since this changes with the aircraft type and fuel cost (both always varying), the airlines set this for each type. 0 ==> fuel is infinitely expensive, try to burn the minimum. 500+ ==> flight time is (basically) infinitely expensive, shorten the flight time regardless of fuel burn. BTW, CI=0 gives you max range, CI big (like 500) gives you max cruise speed, LRC gives you 99% of the max range (a set compromise). Or, you can just set a cruise speed, or use the RTA (required time of arrival) function, which will calculate a speed to arrive at a given waypoint at a given time. Note that the fuel planning from Simbrief assumes you'll use the chosen CI, so if you ignore it and put your foot down, check estimated fuel at destination (PROG page) and make sure there's still enough! If you look at page 2 of the flight plan, you'll see the effect of low and high CI on fuel burn and arrival time vs. plan.- The 5 Stages of MSFS 2024 Grief
1. Denial. Examples: I must have a setting wrong. Is HAGS on? Which NVidia driver am I on? Is there a new one? Maybe try that FPS TLOD adjust thing? Maybe its the High Precision Event Timer again. I'll check the forums. 2. Frustration. Examples: This makes no sense. 15 FPS in 2D mode? Why can't I figure this out. I already lowered settings to potato, and on a 4090? Others seem to like it and get it to work. Are they paid by Microsoft, like all the you-tubers are? 3. Anger. Examples: This is basically an expansion pack, how can it be this unfinished? It's like a beta 1 release. Did ANYONE at Asobo or Microsoft actually try playing the game? That Grand Canyon thing looked good, was it all a scam? I mean, if I'm honest, if I got a paid vacation to the Grand Canyon with helicopter rides and everything, I'd video myself lying to the entire internet too. 4. Acceptance. Examples: It's Christmas time and I don't want to be in a bad mood, I'm going to uninstall it and go back to FS2020. I'll keep an eye out every so often and see if it's fixed in a few months. I don't feel like playing patch-update-Russian-roulette, and it's ok to feel that way. 5. Sadness. Examples: I spent $100+ on this game. I was looking forward to taking some time during holiday break to enjoy all the cool new stuff. I could have bought my children a couple extra Christmas presents. I could have taken my spouse out to a nice Sunday brunch. I could have just spent some rare free time playing fetch with my dog for free.- VR still broken in 2024?
You guys running Virtual Desktop with black screens know about this right? I had the same problem when my system "upgraded" to 24H2. From the VD Discord: Windows 11 24H2 - H.264/H.264+ There are 2 known issues with H.264/H.264+ on the latest update of Windows 11. Streaming the desktop with H.264/H.264+ will sometimes fail and fallback to HEVC. Streaming PCVR games with H.264+ at high bitrates (> 287 Mbps) with SSW set to Always will cause a black screen. Workaround: set SSW to Auto or use a different codec or lower bitrate.- I think I know why I don't like VR in FS24
BufordTX replied to nojwod's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)Agree. That, and when I ran 2024 in VR, then went back to 2020, it felt so much better. Back to back, the contrast is very sad.- Who all stayed or went back to 2020 after 2024 released
I'm a VR guy. I tried 2024. With the bugs, performance, lack of my favorite planes and no backward compatibility for them from 2020, I gave up. Someone said I had to uninstall and reinstall. So, I uninstalled it and never re-installed. I can't see why I'd struggle with controls, stutters, crashes, etc. for ?? I have to turn it down so much, it doesn't look really any better than 2020. So, other than a sense of accomplishment at getting this disaster to run, what do I get at the end? Limited planes? Nicer sky colors? Rocks and twigs with 4k textures? Career mode that I won't use? Better clouds for sure, but is that it? I think they've given up on VR. Time will tell. If they make any progress on that, maybe I'll dl it and try again. Best guess, and only if they choose to spend the money, it'll be better in a year. It's an Xbox game, the move to streaming is all about getting the added content to run on that potato. Then throw in a low-priority PC port and unmodified VR code. Either that, or it was written for a 7090 graphics card. Like every FS version since 4.0, when launched, it'll run well on my next PC.- MSFS 2024 has been released!
I'm happy to say that the credit card charge worked seamlessly and quickly. Those servers are working perfectly!- [26OCT24] EMERGENCY 737 NOTAM: PMDG work around
TL;DR We couldn't figure out how to download 3 files from the internet. So we asked Navigraph to do it for us. Took them a few seconds.- Unable to use PMDG B738
Try clearing the compiled WASM files for the plane. Delete those 4 types of files in that directory or, in a command window or batch file: cd %userprofile%\appdata\Roaming\"Microsoft Flight Simulator"\Packages cd pmdg-aircraft-738 del /s *.cache del /s *.dll del /s *.lib del /s *.obj The next time you load up the plane, it will recompile. Worked for me, or maybe it was random. Still a bug with PMDG.- CPU cores are not 100% utilized when “Limited by MainThread”
Are you running VSYNC? It could be waiting for the next refresh, which, I believe, shows up as a mainthread limit.- MSFS 2024 Global Preview Mega Thread
That would be cool, but whatever this is, it's unique to Aviator. We need to know before deciding which version to pre-order. - PMDG 777-200ER Released
